  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I'm a white male. Over 50, paying job/career, didn't pay for college, sailed through with the best of everything. And I am convinced that my particular demographic is petrified of losing any control or power at all. We want to be in control. Not to lead, not to be in charge. We want to be in control. In control of jobs, finances, religion, education, medicine.

Our greatest fear is that we will lose thay power and control.

And the fear of suicide is that we aren't in control. Someone else gets to make their own choice and their is absolutely no way to predict it, steal it back from you, control you, or influence you if you make thay choice. Our control, your debts, your adherence to social mores and rules we love will be gone. We can't exert influence on those who choose this. We can't even hurt you. You have taken every power from us if you choose to take your own life.

This isn't a dedicated conspiracy. It's not the final solution exterminating a race. It's a social hierarchy. But the ones at the top are petrified of change and loss of power. Just imagine someone decides the social cliques and hard work and overtime and dedication to job and church isn't important. Under normal rules you need a place to live, you need friends, you need to fit in. But if you decide to drop that and kill yourself then there is no recourse and no smug satisfaction that "if the person only worked harder and was part of our validation they would fit in and be producing. Taking your own life makes us scared. This world isn't perfect if people decide to kill themselves because of it.

I think so too. Some people are very scared of others making the ultimate choice for themselves. They see life as something grand and much bigger than them and so someone saying, I've had enough is almost unfathomable to them.

The thing is, everyone has their limit. Most people will never hit that limit in their life and will live till disease or old age naturally take them. But some of us by pure bad luck or our own decisions hit that limit where we simply cannot go on anymore. But when we express that, we're gaslit and told it's only temporary, we're not trying hard enough to get better etc. It blows my mind. They keep forcing people who have hit their limit to keep going with no regard for the person suffering. At some point, we just have to let go. But they don't want to let us.

I see where you're coming from, but if it is due to a desire of elites to maintain control, why'd they decriminalise suicide attempts? As an elite, if I truly wanted to prevent people making their own choices, I'd use the law as a deterrent so people hesitate to even consider that option.

They see life as something grand and much bigger than them and so someone saying, I've had enough is almost unfathomable to them.

I think @Ta555 is on point here -- it's just that human society ascribes human life wayyy more value than it deserves. It starts right from birth -- every birth is considered a "miracle" even after billions of said births. So they just try their best to discourage one extinguishing itself.

that could be true. Conspiracy or control is probably a significant overstatement on my part. But I think that two big drivers for a lot of people are fear and need for stability. Fear comes from the anxiety about imminent danger or the perception that something unexpected could happen that disrupts stability. With that as a lens, I think that the goal is very much to maintain control of your environment. And I think that suicide disrupts stability and since it can't be controlled specifically, the tendency is to be afraid of it.

Control, and fighting over control, probably explains most world events. But it seems the elites are not one voice. Some seem to want population reduction, via virus, famine, war. In that case, promoting suicide should be in the right direction. But other elites benefit from selling vaccines, cholesterol pills, anti aging drugs to keep the rich boomers alive. After all there isn't much political gain to speak for a suicidal minority who is going to disappear anyway if they succeed. Virus, famine and war are probably the better ways to population reduction. At the same time selling vaccines, weapon, controlling food supply, playing both ways.

If suicide were a right, society would actually be accountable over how people are treated. Denigrating those who fail to cope with dreadful degradation is society's trump card. It's like solving the problem of an abusive marriage by prohibiting divorce.
