I've known about this failed pilot for years and it has always fascinated me ever since I discovered it. The show is about a spy, named Agent Xero, who works for an organisation called The Modifyers and is tasked with thwarting the evil Baron Vein. The show was created by a married couple, Chris Reccardi and Lynne Naylor, and pitched to Nickelodeon in 2007. Its pilot episode aired on television, but the show was never greenlit by Nickelodeon executives, who instead passed on it and never gave it a chance. I've heard Chris and Lynne tried to pitch the show to other networks and sought other ways to help The Modifyers materialise into something more than just a pilot episode, but very sadly, their ideas never came to fruition, and Chris Reccardi died of a heart attack in 2019.

This obscure pilot is largely overshadowed by a "parody" (if you know, you know), which is somehow more well-known than the show itself. If there was any chance at all of this show ever being picked up in the future, that chance is now almost totally destroyed largely because of the infamous parody which tarnishes it.

I reckon I would have loved this show and it's heart-breaking to think about what could have been. I very recently found out that the 'bible' for this show surfaced on the Internet a couple of years ago. Looking at it, you can clearly see the vision Chris and Lynne had for this show had it have been greenlit. There's concept art and additional characters that we never got to see in the pilot, like "Tenny" and "Quagmyre", lore, and some draft ideas for some of the episodes. You can see it all here: ( https://archive.org/details/modifyers-show-bible/mode/2up )

I sometimes like to imagine what any hypothetical episodes of this show could have looked like. I think it had so much potential and I can see just how much passion, heart and soul was put into it. It's a tragedy that Nickelodeon rejected it. It's a seed that never sprouted, and that is very sad to me.

The Modifyers deserved so much better.

RIP Chris Reccardi.

The art style really is fantastic, especially the environments. Very tragic what happened, RIP.

Thank you for sharing this.
