Usuallly the names are given retrospectively.

Here some options:
Late modernity
Postmodernity (or Post-Post modernity)
Digital age/ Information Age (or Post truth societiy)
Platform age or surveillance capitalism
Anthropocene (I think in contrast to the Holocene)

polycrisi, the age of AI, post-liberal era, age of geopolitical competition, information crisi

People on here will probably like beginning of the third world war

Which term do you prefer?

I don't like modernisms, the whole post-/meta- thing, and other cultural garbage.

World War 3, or some bizarre version of ww3— we'll see what happens in the fall. Slop, the era of empty information, the death of privacy. Something like that, anyway ¯\(°_o)/¯

Whatever it's called, I suspect it will be looked back upon as the era in which history resumed (Francis Fukuyama most affected).

Plastic age.

Similarly as stone age or bronze age. Nobody will care about our stupid shenanigans, political absurds, religions. Wars will still be mentioned, but they don't define whole age.

Certainly not age of reason. Not post-something or modernity, because these are just placeholders for contemporary, when we still don't know what makes a period unique.

All that assuming there will be livable planet after us.

Early Space Age because Im hopeful that we will keep developing in that way, and because it's a Stellaris reference (lmao).

All things considered though, likely the unlimited internet access, overwhelming presence of plastic, AI, soulless reality in certain aspects (such as lack of beauty in modern art and modern infrastructure, constant issues with landscape shaping). I think it's not the worst it can become yet in regards to those things, but we're already living through some shift towards rotten Futuristic future; so maybe it's a time of change, time of transition rather than an epoch on its own?
But the Great Reset hasn't even finished yet soooo, more changes are about to come for sure, and then maybe one day we will be able to name it properly.

Age of greed. Too much concentrated wealth. Not just billionaires, many are willing to hurt others for personal gain.
I've seen it in three company sales. A small number makes millions and hundreds suffer. It happens over and over. So now we have a horrid job market and runaway inflation.
There's supposed to be more competition. More jobs. Much would be solved but no, greed ruins all.
Same thing with mass immigration or offshoring. It's just cheaper labor. Modern slavery. More savings that goes to the rich.

I mean, the Information Age is certainly still around ig~ altho, it peaked in quality like 20 years ago and has been in seemingly endless decline, especially over the past 14, 6, and 4 years~ :( Mr. Evil likes to call it the 4th Industrial Revolution tho~
