I found a few posts here on ideas on tiring things up. I have a bank account, checking and savings. I don't have a lot of money. Just a few grand. I have a car, my dad co signed it. I pay for the insurance but I am under his insurance still. I have a phone plan. And then I have a like 3 subscriptions and a PayPal account.
How can I give my dad access to my bank account after I die? Slshould I just give him my username and password on the app? What about phone plan and the the other stuff? How do people take care of these things when someone dies? I want to try doing it myself because they would still need to bury me, so I want to try at least doing something to lessen the load.
Also I need advice o something else. In my church, if you have tattoos, don't do communion, and especially commit suicide, you don't get a church service. You are buried with no service at all. Like burying a pet. I know they would hire someone to build a coffin out of cheap wood, we don't buy coffins from a funeral home. It's all homemade stuff. Then usually a person would be buried in white clothing. My mom said she already bought her burial clothes which I found out today. I guess I could hire someone to sew them for me….
Any help please

I think that to give the money to your parents you should do like a testament but I dont have legal experience so I dont know how that stuff works. About the funeral I have the same worries as you but i think the family profides for the coffin and clothing

You should make a will. That will sort out where the assets go.

Generally, once a death has been certified most companies are reasonably cooperative about closing accounts etc. It happens all the time.

You don't say where you but in most places, your father shouldn't just take the cash after you die. The correct administrative steps have to be taken (to ensure that debts are paid for example).

I'm the same, i want to do as much as i can and make it as easy on my family as possible. I made one of my parents my beneficiary on anything i could so if i die the money or whatever goes to them. For ex. at bank depending where you live you can make dad beneficiary, he wont just be able to use your cards with passwords without some kind of legal thing i would think. for items that cant specify a beneficiary i plan on putting in a will. i also plan on cancelling any subscriptions i dont need up until the day i ctb, and anything else that needs to be cancelled would prob need proper documentation of person being deceased so will leave passwords and contacts for those ppl and services. for example, dont want to give my notice at apt. in case ctb fails and then no where to live, but that will go in the paperwork for them to be contacted after the fact.

As for your church, im not sure if that is something that was important to you so if so im sorry if you cant be buried there if you ctb. i plan on having clothes or options picked out so makes sense if you have a white outfit that feels like it honours you ready, pick something out. gives you some control. and if you're worried about the coffin you can always research options and include that for them, like cheap options.

Hope some, if any of that helped.

Administrative steps? How do I do that? Where do I start? Do I go to my bank?

If I wanted to make my dad a beneficiary would he need to sign? How do I start that paperwork? Also the paperwork about a will? Do I need a lawyer? I'm pretty clueless I don't know how to do this

Hi again can I make my dad a beneficiary without him knowing? It would raise red flags if he did know and I don't want to experience that again. Do I just go to a bank representative and say something like "I want to file paperwork to make a family member my beneficiary." Would they tell my dad? God I'm 27 but I don't know anything about this….I did some research on my states will so I can start on that.

i know this can all be overwhelming and i can relate, hard to know how to prep. I think for the bank i could go online and just fill out a form. as far as i know, ppl arent notifieed if they are the beneficiary until after but i dont know for sure. you can start by callin your bank and saying you recently lost someone and made you start thinking about having your affairs in order and what would need to be done. its ok to ask questions. for the will, in my country it can either be typed but needs to be signed by two witnesses which i cant do, or handwritten wihthout a witness. or you can do same thing with a lawyer, lost someone recently, getting things in order. but if you dont have big assets then lawyer prob not needed. theres also online versions.

Heck I have no assets. Just own a car and have bank accounts. I pretty much don't have anything… I guess a will isn't needed. Idk how my dad would sell my car he does have a signature for it but he might need mine? Ugh I can't research for crap sorry
