Method How to properly use the carbon monoxide method?

I don't have a car and I don't really want to use my parents car because that would devastate them. Is there any other way to cause carbon monoxide poisoning?
If so, what are the steps I need to take? What are the steps I need to take if I have access to a vehicle (I could rent one, just don't know where I'd actually do it)

Modern cars don't emit fatal doses of CO anyway.

Car exhaust is NOT going to work. Cars have catalytic converters on their exhausts which capture most of the pollutants, including CO. The only exception would be an older automobile with a carbureted engine and no catalytic converter on the exhaust system. Using carbon charcoal in an enclosed space, such as a tent, is a much more effective way of generating copious amounts of CO, which is what is needed for a peaceful CO CTB exit.
