How to know if i hit styro

How do you know you've hit the dermis layer? I don't plan to go any deeper, I'm satisfied enough with styro. But I dont know if I've truly hit it. My cut opens, then I see white then the scar fills up with blood shortly after, but I still can't be sure!! </3

if you're seeing white that's a good sign that you have hit the dermis. in my experience cuts to this depth take a little bit longer to start bleeding and bleed for longer than an epidermis cut would. if you're still unsure try dabbing away the blood to get a closer look at the color, and look up skin layer anatomy models if you'd like to see the layers and how thick they are.

1. What do you use? I've been using eyebrow razors but they get dull easily.

2. Through your experience, has these type of cuts damaged nerves or something? I personally play piano so if my hands/arms get fucked up I'd be cooked </3

Your dermis is full of sensory nerve fibers and motor nerve fibers. It's how we feel what we touch (and feel pain) and react to it. So yes, wounds to this depth can indeed cause nerve damage.

Scars alone can entrap, compress, or irritate nerves causing abnormal signals to be fired off.

1. i also use eyebrow razors.. not going to give away the brand since they are really sharp and i would rather not enable anything

2. i am personally not sure, my cuts are on my hip and legs and i have not experienced anything strange relating to feeling in those areas. however you REALLY need to be careful cutting on wrists and arms. on your wrists, your tendons are close to the skin and cutting too deep will certainly cause damage. there are also lots of veins present in the wrist area and cutting through those may cause a whole other array of issues. please be safe and take as much care of yourself as possible when cutting.

If you see white then that's dermis. I'm glad you don't plan on going any deeper as the next layer would be hypodermis, and that one requires stitches and they're a lot harder to take care of. Stay safe love
