I'm sorry if this is inappropriate if so I can remove it.

I want to join a cult because I hate making decisions in life, which is the main reason I want it to end. Plus, most cults end in death, either mass suicide or mass murder.

Maybe I sound really childish and stupid but I didn't know where else to ask this.

Most cults don't end in death though. Those are just the ones that get all the attention. Most cults are really small, and consist of some abusive jerk abusing the 4-6 people around them who are too lonely to really break out of it. A lot of the time the abuse is monetary.

Hello, you can join military, the most widely known death cult and travel to a hot spot somewhere.
Or become a rebel anywhere in the world.
But you may never be same again.

Agreed that most cults do not end in death.

Cults are about control.

If you want to join one, here are some suggestions:

Jehovah's Witnesses - when you join, they will come to your home, go through your things, and tell you what you are and are not allowed to keep, including movies, music and art.

Moonies

Hare Krishnas

Mormon church or the FLDS sect

Work for Lululemon

Landmark - formerly EST, part of the human potential movement, the four-day forum is the indoctrination

Mooji cult in Portugal

Body & Brain, formerly Dahn Yoga

NKT Buddhist cult

Amway sales

US Marines

Scientology

Swami Nithyananda

I don't like celebrating my birthday because it's a horrible reminder of life and that I haven't killed myself yet. And I'm not religious so I don't care about Christmas anyway, just a time to see family who don't even like me

If Jehova's Witnesses aren't active in the UK, please inform their home office.

Same with Moonies, Mormons, and Scientology.

I'll be honest, I have no desire to see you join a cult. But if you're given the information you seek, you can research and figure out for yourself if it's a good idea or a bad one. I'm still pro-choice, I'm not going to be a gatekeeper even though I am strongly against cults. If you want to know what cult indoctrination looks like, researching the Landmark Forum is a good place to start. Or research Mooji as a cult, there is a transgendered journalist who outed the practices of the cult, and it's very much how many cults operate. Cults want money and they want control via undue influence - if that's what you seek, who am I to say it's a bad choice for you?

I have had two family members in cults. One was in the FLDS cult decades before it became international news, and she tried and could not escape. I had another family member who was highly intelligent and likely had Aspergers, he joined JW later in life and absolutely loved how they did all the thinking for him. I don't know how it ultimately turned out, I cut off communication with the family right after he joined and was still in the honeymoon phase.

Hey yes, I am aware of JW etc, but they're not really the kind of cult I'm going for, too religious and doesn't end in death. My uncle is a JW and doesn't speak to me anymore lol

The Moojie cult has had two suicides. But yeah, Portugal.

You can look up cult watch groups and see if there are any death cults listed. Usually they're pretty monitored in countries like the US and UK. You can blame Jim Jones for fucking up your goals.

Big corporations are also cults. But then again, if you could get a job at Google, you might have better things to do with your time than killing yourself.
.
Also, you could try to give a TedxTalk, they seem plenty cultish.

OP, don't do it! In a sense of, don't join a cult to CTB.

When you hear the word "cult" vis-a-vis CTB'ing, you probably think of that Jonestown one, with the poisoned Kool-Aid. Well, nobody will hand you a big glass of poisoned Kool-Aid the minute you walk in the door! A cult is not a free CTB service, like that "going home" clinic in "Soylent Green".

First, knowing that most people are pro-lifers, a cult will love-bomb you, to give you a motive to keep living and stay with them. But the love-bombing ends quickly. Then, they'll demand money from you, and withhold approval of you refuse. Then, if you stay, they'll make you engage in weird rituals, that sometimes result in painful injuries. Not death, but painful injuries. Lather, rinse, repeat.

In the end, you will need be in that cult for a long time before you CTB. Most cults do not put you on a bus quickly, if at all. A dead member produces no revenue, after all. That Jonestown cult was more of an exception than the rule; the only reason it caught news media's attention is because all cult members CTB'ed at once, and mainstream media are all pro-lifers.

Work for Lululemon got me :-)

OP - I am sure that any amount of cult activity be it in the pursuit or engagement will only heighten any negative/difficult feelings you have right now. I've only heard extremely toxic and abusive stories for those in them and can only imagine the pain that they endured either mentally or physically.

I sincerely hope that you are able to find a happy/mutually beneficial alternative.

You can join any religion and it will be considered a cult by anyone intelligent enough to understand semantics. Cults nowadays aren't into the mass suicide because whoever starts the cult wants to profit off of it.

Being LGBT and only 18? Your identity and freedom of expression will be stripped away and by then, you will be too far gone to realize what they have done to your development and if you do realize, you can't get out easily because they have something that's crucial and know you depend on them so they hang it over your head. There's lots of control that goes on and a lot of abusive relationships and parents follow this model. I know some people in the community and they like to explore, do things freely, grow and expand, and you're doing yourself a disservice if you join a cult.

Yeah I had considered that, but I thought there might be a cult for people like me, guess I'll have to create one ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Something I've always found appealing about religion is the feeling of belonging, I feel so desperately alone and thought of living and dying with a group of people, honestly it doesn't seem to bad. I know it's fucked up.

Have you considered going to events and clubs for LGBT? There's social LGBT gatherings near you, I'm sure. Even just putting yourself out there and being yourself you can feel less lonely with people who are similar. They may in turn introduce you to other LGBT people! Also, moving to a city that's LGBT-friendly could be a life-changer. You have options. :)

I'm transgender and I really think religion is a horrible thing. I would suggest joining some other type of cult instead of religion. Even the LGBT community can be considered a cult because everyone pushes a certain pro life mentality. Nevertheless, I think more good comes out of the LGBT cult than what people worshipping religion force upon their kids or others with what they assume God desires.

Most people on this forum don't know what they're asking for. I think you want to quell your curiosity of what life is like in a cult rather than actually live day-to-day in a cult.
