|Repost of a deleted post due to it being published in the wrong subforum|

My therapist is currently just suggesting things that has already been suggested in the past; meditation, cognitive distortions, etc. The therapist just makes me feel... nothing, like waiting for a lecture to end so you can get home. Just tolerating the conversation. In addition, she's moved to telehealth, which to me is unbearable. So I'm planning on stopping therapy. However, if I ask for my notes during the same email or session that I announce my cessation, will she be less likely to give them to me? Should I just ask for the notes in a session acting normally, and then just stop after I finally get them? And then there's the question to email, call, or in person.?

I just want to know what to do to sweet-talk my way into getting the progress reports? I am a very big person on introspection, and finding the key cause to everything. And, I feel that this would be very useful to me. I'd presume that saying something along those lines, and acting normally, then quitting after receiving them would be best, but I really just want confirmation. Thank you all very much!

None of my therapy providers would/will give notes directly to a client. They only provide them to another treating physician.

Procedures should be in whatever HIPPA notices you were given when you started seeing this person, if you are in the USA.

It's not an unusual question and I don't think your therapist will be surprised by it, but you may not get the answer you desire.

It'd depend on state law, and if it's more stringent then HIPAA. I cannot find any superseding legislature in my state, so it'd be what's written in hipaa, which writes that the therapist can decide to grant or release them to the client. Are you saying your providers don't release notes period, only to doctors, or to medical practitioners to then give to the client?

wow ive never heard something more relatable in my life, i struggle with talking to therapists as well which is why i dont anymore. They literally dont do shit for me. I need to get better at communication so i can get what i want and stop wasting my time. I feel like they just want me to keep coming back cause they want money. Hey if u ever wanna message me sometime im open to talk, i need some advice tbh, idk if we could help each other but id be down to try. I just want some damn painkillers but noooooo they wanna just sit there and stare at me or tell me generic ass stuff like "im young" and bla bla bla something something. Like i could be 30 and theyd still keep saying the same shit i know they would. They just wanna waste my damn time. -_-

Have you tried going to your doctor and feigning symptoms? You may have to do doctor shopping, but you could probably just bullshit your way into a prescription. It's also best to have a specific med in mind, that way you can more accurately describe "symptoms" Saying something like, "I used to use my brother's prescription for x med that he allowed me to use, and it really help with my x, x and x, but I ran out of x med, can you give me a prescription or refill?"

I just feel like I could easily go to random person, and ask "how do I cope with depression," and I'd get the same responses as the trained professional lmfao.

haha seriously tho u could! I know for a fact im way better at helping people then any of the ppl ive seen. I dont take therapy seriously anymore, its such a clownery profession, im sure not all are bad tho, but most are. And ya i have thought about that, but do u think that would work for pain meds? I just dont know what to say, they always ignore me when i make suggestions. I will try one more time though. All they ever wanna prescribe me is depression medication, i fucking HATE it.

So it isn't a singular doctor? wtf. So you have genuine pain? I have no idea why they genuinely do not believe you. But anyway, I think you need a completely new doc not associated with your past, lookup a pain med which usually works with the type of pain you have, and cause of pain, then use the family prescription trick. Make sure to not checkmark any depression checkboxes on paperwork, and try to put on a facade.

I just wonder why they know you're depressed, sense this seems to be a cause. That's all I can think of really, Good luck.
