You want your end to be elegant & mysterious
The gif master strikes again, although my reasons are more of a practical nature, as elucidated below.
To me, that sounds absolutely terrifying. Especially if it was done at night. Do you have a spiritual connection with the ocean in general, or is this your method simply because nobody will find you and there is no turning back once you axe the boat?
To most people, the most important things to consider with regards to suicide are:
- Effectiveness
- Pain
- Difficulty (this includes expenditure)
- The state of the body
The first point is obvious and needs no further explanation.
The only reason why pain should be an issue is due to it endangering the proceedings, i.e. leading to an abortion of the attempt, which might leave one with permanent damage. In case of a foolproof method, pain is a little price to pay for death.
Since effectiveness is of utmost importance, something as trivial as the difficulty of the method should not be an obstacle. It is better by far to choose a method which requires high effort and is guaranteed to be successful instead of one which might be easier to achieve, but leaves a risk of failure.
The last point is important to me for several reasons:
- A death which might leave other people traumatised is out of the question. Therefore any method which leaves the body in a bad condition is unacceptable. Likewise, my parents/relatives having to identify my body might be traumatising.
- I dislike the idea of having an autopsy made. I am well aware that I will be dead, but I disapprove of it nevertheless.
- Burials/cremations are expensive; I don't want anyone to pay a fortune for the disposal of my body.
