You want a good VPN. Personally, I believe it's worth paying for things like this because the free ones are frequently a source of adware, spyware, viruses etc.
But anyway,. On the regular internet, you can go to any number of sites to buy bitcoin. I was having problems because the bank weren't fans of the way I was using my bitcoin (and I know others had the same issue), but I started buying at Kucoin upon a recommendation. They're Chinese, so they don't care (was what I was told and it seems to be working ok).
The first time you use it, they will ask for some photo ID like a driver's license or passport, but it's usually just the once.
On logging into the site, you will need to complete captchas and possibly use an authenticator app. I don't use Google authenticator because it had bad reviews about being glitchy. I use this one, which has always worked perfectly: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.jmh.authenticatorpro
Once you've brought the required amount of bitcoin and it is visible in your account (don't worry if it takes a few minutes), you will want to withdraw it.
For this you need the address that you intend to send it to, be it your own wallet or one that you use on a website. It will ask you to enter this. Then you choose the Network you want to use. Chances are it will be the first one that says BTC (bitcoin).
Next you need to enter the amount you want to send..you can choose to send all if you wish.
Then you click complete.
Again you will need to enter a withdrawal code that has been sent to your email account and use an authenticator, for your own safety.
And that's it!
you may have to wait about 30 minutes for it to clear the Blockchain, but that's your money turned into bitcoin and where you want it
Now, if you're spending it on the darknet, this is when you turn in your VPN. Just don't go on there without it being switched on. It's like that dream people get where they go out without their trousers on. 😉

Can't I send the money directly from kucoin to the seller?

It seems many darknet markets are using Monero, now days. I've never read the whitepaper, but I'm told it is much more privacy/security oriented than bitcoin. Your mileage may vary.

Once you've downloaded TOR:

And found the darknet market/vendor and product of your choice, you work out the price of whatever in your local currency and contact someone on here:

to exchange the funds into whatever cryptocurrency your vendor prefers.

You then follow the instructions on the darknet market site you chose to complete the sale.

Be aware, problems can arise at any step during this process, but the vast majority of transactions go through just fine. If I were you, I'd pick a market with a forum as part of its' site, and read everything I could to learn the process, the potential risks, vender repitations, etc. before you "take the plunge" so to speak.

As far as I know, just reading and interacting on such forums alone isn't illegal in any western country. Be careful exploring random sites on the darknet, it's easy to find things that you don't like and things you don't want on your computer. Also, don't be too quick to trust people you meet there, and as always guard your personal information.

Good Luck!

Yes. A lot of the markets are insisting on Monero.
This is because each time you use other currencies, a digital signature is tagged to the money and when a vendor wants to withdraw funds, that can make it more difficult or cause them to be forced to accept a lower exchange rate (dirty money). Monero is as anonymous as you will get.
The downside is that some countries won't allow you to buy it yet (the UK is one).
There are ways around this..you need to buy litecoin or another currency and exchange it. I'm told Binance with swap it for you.
If you're buying from a darknet market, only ever use links from dark.fail (I write down the primary address and only use that, but I'm old and pen/paper is my style). Take time to read the feedback and try to leave as little in your account as possible (in case of exit scams).
I would advise to try and use a domestic seller. You're unlikely to get into any trouble unless you're buying large quantities. It's usually just a matter of having your order confiscated and a warning letter. But avoiding customs definitely makes things far easier.

The markets that I have used all give you your own personal wallet with its own address. You send the money there, then choose what you want to buy. The money goes into escrow, which means it's held until you receive the goods and finalize the order, releasing the funds to them.

how to buy with bitcoins
The short answer is you probably shouldn't. I'd agree that Monero looks like the better option. Still, Monero may not be the perfect solution. If you need to rely on a project to do something important for you, IMO you should try to understand it as best you can and "taking someone else's word for it" as little as possible.

If it has to be bitcoin then you might want to use a tumbler.

The first time you use it, they will ask for some photo ID like a driver's license or passport, but it's usually just the once.
The point of KYC is to tie your activities to your genuine, real-world identity. I don't know the details of the processes involved but it's definitely ongoing. Are they really going to care about individuals spending their otherwise legitimate crypto on darknet markets? No idea.

Now, if you're spending it on the darknet, this is when you turn in your VPN. Just don't go on there without it being switched on.
The Tor Project itself recommends against using a VPN with Tor. This seems to mostly be because it requires extra effort, care, and trust for no gain in anonymity if you can already access Tor and there's no issues with your ISP or whoever knowing just the fact you're using Tor.

Exactly. I wouldn't use a market that didn't offer an escrow service. Of course, I personally wouldn't use a market at all.... but if I did using escrow is just common sense.

I guess the transaction would look like this...

Your cash-> localmonero-> your wallet-> market escrow service
* you receive whatever from the vendor *
market escrow service-> vendor.
* you rave about how great your vendor is on the market forum *

transaction complete.

edit- I've never used "dark.fail" for anything... never even heard of it. I'm not sure you should trust what "kind strangers" offer you on the interwebs... it seems like that could truly be a dark fail, to me. Your mileage may vary.

You don't want a VPN in TOR. Your ISP will know you're using TOR, but they won't know where you're going or what you're doing. You can control your connection with TOR, but you can't control the connection the VPN makes... if the VPN company leaks data, it will lead directly to you. If you're worried about the market you're using being compromised, you can daisy-chain proxies around the globe through TOR. That's complex, unless you have the set-up for it.

VPNs are great for getting around country restrictions on movies, or for when you don't want your ISP knowing you watch tentacle hentai my little pony porn or something, but otherwise a VPN is over-rated. lol

some countries won't allow you to buy it
That's why you use a service like localmonero. It's a face-to face transaction, it only goes bad if the person you're transacting with is a glowie, or is under surveillance.

Governments in most countries can't control their entire population, all the time.
I use Tor maximum security
Just use TOR, and set it up according to the instructions on the site I gave you. I don't know what "Tor maximum security" is... but the course of action you have set apon is filled with fraud, and you have to be precise in your understanding and actions.

Good luck, OP!
I can't pay with monero. What is escrow? This seems so difficult
Many of the localmonero exchangers deal in other cryptos, as well. When you contact them, just ask.

Escrow is when a third party holds the funds until both parties in the transaction are satisfied, then releases it.

Yes, it is a pain in the ass. You're not buying a pack of smokes down at the corner store. lol
It's a good idea to understand what you're doing inside and out, before you do it OP.

Everything worthwhile in life takes effort.

Read the forum on the market site you picked. Spend a day or two learning. Lurk moar. lol

You might find it's just not for you- and that's ok, too.
The first time you use it, they will ask for some photo ID like a driver's license or passport
Don't ever give anyone your information like this, under any circumstances. This is not a brick and morter banking institution you're dealing with.

It's the wild west out there. Cover your ass.

But I'll have to do that when I open a wallet....... Guys you could be more clear explaining your stuff. Everyone say a different thing.. line the one who says don't buy bitcoins.. wtf? I am saying I need bitcoins. Don't talk to me about dunno what monero shit because I dunno wtf is monero
You don't know what maximum security is in Tor? I bet you know. I hate cryptic people please don't answer my thread if you are a cryptic person who thinks getting inside darkweb is a super complex mission ok? Just simple people who explain things simple. No dark web bibles thanks

If you need bitcoins because your vendor wants bitcoins, then buy bitcoins. Simple.

You will need a bitcoin wallet, yes.

You'll find many people telling you many things. People like to steal from each other, and what you want to do is complex... so many people don't understand it. It's a good idea to learn about what you want to do before you do it, OP.

Monero isn't shit. It's used because it offers privacy and secrecy that other digital currencies don't. In fact, I'd be a bit suspicious of vendors who don't use it... but that's just me.

Using bitcoin with a tumbler is another option, with another step involved where you can get ripped off.
You make your own decisions, OP.

I've tried to be as clear as I can... your confusion and frustration is indicative of the complexity of what you want to do. Read up on it. The forum on most "reputable" darkmarkets is usually a good place to do so.

I don't want to see you post a story about how you got arrested, or ripped off. In the darkmarkets, you're dealing with government agents and criminals, online. Don't forget that.

It's dangerous to you and your finances.
Good luck, OP.
You don't know what maximum security is in Tor?
I know how to set up TOR. lol

I also know people will shaft you and try to get you to download "altered" versions of TOR... that's why you do a checksum before you use it.

I thought you might be talking about something like that, so I addressed it.
I hate cryptic people please don't answer my thread if you are a cryptic person who thinks getting inside darkweb is a super complex mission
You're the one that came here with questions. Do you really find my answers "cryptic"? lol.
Good luck with that, OP.
No dark web bibles thanks
Then just go do whatever you're going to do, OP.

Why get offended at people that try to give you help that you asked for?

I can't make you understand. Go get your bumps and bruises yourself... then you'll understand in a way I could never explain.

I hope you find what you seek, OP. Good luck.

There are options. We don't know what level of anonymity you're aiming for at each step vs. how comfortable you are with the technologies/services, and how much effort you're willing to put in.

Monero comes up because the underlying goal here should be transferring value anonymously and Monero offers better anonymity than Bitcoin. I did add that if you must use Bitcoin then it'd be a good idea to use a tumbler.
