The most infomration ;posts on this subject here were from a person who said he was a former train driver- tehy all hit a couple people a year on average, and he hit fourteen over his career and four survived, for a success rate of 70%. One of the people who died was alive in a hospital for foru days before dying. Of the four survivors there were some amputated limbs and other severe damage. To me the downside risk isn't worth it when you have methods like Sn with a likely higher success rate and very little downside risk, but each person has to decide for themselves.

Unfortunately ending up as a vegetable is always a possibility with violent methods. I'll respect your wishes and not mention others.

Well, I'd say if you lay your neck on the tracks and let a train run over your neck, one could make a darn good, educated guess that this would result in 100% fatality. As far as just throwing yourself onto the front of a train, with considerations for deflecting off the train, etc., I'd say no where near certain. Pretty gory way to go, IMO.

Technique matters. If you just step in front of a train it may knock you out of the way, not necessarily killing you. For a train like a subway without a cowcatcher, if you manage to get your head on the track and it runs over you that's a pretty certain death. Pretty rough on the driver though.

This happens often where I live, the majority die. One guy pretended to be talking on his phone when the train came around a corner. Another pretended he had dropped something. Good self distraction techniques.

I don't mean this as a joke but it's pretty rough on your head, too. What a mess it will be.

Even then it seems like it can get tricky- if you lie on your side your body might be too high for the train to go over and this could send you flying an d seerious injure you without killing you. If you lie flat on your stomach it will hit your body before it hits your head and again it could send you flying before you are killed. I don't think there is a way to be close to 100% to ctb. 70%, based on a train river's experiences, seem like a more likely estimate.

I am guessing if you lie face down with your chin over the rail your odds would be much better than simply jumping off a subway platform in front of an oncoming train.

If you do that the train will hit your body with a lot of force and se nd you flying before it reaches your head, so I'm not sure that the odds would be bettr- for people who get pulled under the train they often get gruesome injuries, such as amputations, brain damage, paralysis, etc. I think both ways leave a significant risk of serious trauma without death.

Yes, the majority die- according to a train driver who post here, they hit 14 over the years and 10 died- that is the majority for sure. BUt the 4 who survived- which is 30%, had a high risk of amputated limbs, paralysis, etc.
