Well, yes. But anyway, you should do it in a place where you're undisturbed for some time. Whether that's during the day or at night isn't that important. Just make sure you're undisturbed and nobody can interrupt the attempt.
So that no one finds you before you go, it's best to do at night. But day time could be fine as well if you can find a tree in a deserted area
