Food delays and slows the rate you absorb drugs through your GI tract, and right-to-die books advise eating light in general because well, waste products from digestion tend to leave the body once you die and can no longer control the muscles in your sphincter or bladder.

If you don't care about soiling yourself when you die, I suppose that doesn't matter. Personally, I'm going to have an expensive, heavy, decadent 5 star dinner for my last meal (but I'm also not CtBing with an oral poison).

What is going to make you pull the trigger, so to speak?

I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your always thoughtful and pragmatic responses to so many people, thank you. Also, if I may ask, what is your chosen exit method?

I'm avoiding specifics to keep myself less identifiable, as being linked to this online identity posthumously would cause issues for my survivors, not to mention myself in the unlikely event I fail. Suffice to say, I've had "treatment resistant" major depressive disorder with frequent suicidal ideation for decades, since childhood, and there have been a couple recent developments in my life that will soon render it irreparably intolerable (even by the standards of folks without a history of depression).

I'm happy to help. (Well, in a manner of speaking... "happy" isn't exactly accurate for a severely depressed person.) Of course, it's sad that death is the only way for so many of us to relieve our suffering, but better it be safe and effective than dangerous, painful and ineffective.

For my exit, I've got a bunch of stuff in a duffle bag. Inert gas asphyxiation (exit bag) as primary, carotid compression (ligature strangulation) as backup, femoral artery transection (slicing open my femoral artery with a ceramic knife after injecting a local anesthesic) as my secondary backup, and I've got some sodium azide squirreled away in case all that somehow goes to hell. If the exit bag fails, I'll probably go the complex suicide route and use both ligature strangulation and femoral transection at the same time before resorting to sodium azide.

Why not N.?

FYI, I, too, appreciate your helpful and pragmatic responses. As for all your methods, alas, they all have their weakest common denominator, which is SI.

Concerns about law enforcement, mostly. (And with anything illegal, it's hard to be confident about purity and authenticity.) The expense and long lead time and possibility of not getting it all also factor into it. With all that, I thought I should work out how to CtB with common, cheap, and legal materials, so I worked out that list of methods... and now buying pentobarbital (or opiates, which also appeal to me) seems like a pointless and risky expense.

Yeah, as do all methods. Even swallowing a fatal amount of a peaceful, pleasant drug has that moment of Truth. Reportedly, it's psychologically easier to turn the valve on an exit bag setup than tighten a ligature or anything more direct or closer to the body. I don't figure it will be a problem for me, but I suppose I'll see.

I have not confident in PPH, well I never have read it. Seems to me like a macabre death machine.
I think is easy to live wondering modern and chic methods, unfeasibles as normal. A comfortable way of confronting the death, when oneself is uncapable to do it.
Do not mind if you eat light or take a big meal, allmost all aspects are not important....benzos yes or not...a thousand things more.....swallow it is the crucial juncture for , or to try swallow it though.

Before I had a doubt, when........now I had a hundred thousand doubts, even I do not know whether I will be capable, I really hope.

we´ll see.
