I have known three. A high school friend who poured Vaseline over her and struck a match

A workmate who went home one day who hanged himself

And my former partner who I understand hanged hersel long after she left my life

Probably more. But it does show how common it is

Hmm two people come to mind, one was the brother of a girl in my high school, he was in the Israeli Defense Forces and I think he couldn't deal with the pressure/grief/horrors.
The other was the son of a substitute teacher and he was found in a nature preserve in our town, prob hanging. I am not sure why he chose to die but it was said he had PTSD. He had a loving family and he was in college.

A cousin cut his wrists. An aunt committed suicide with drugs in the car. A neighbor shot himself. The lover of another little hung man. A girl at school shot herself in the chest with a rifle and screamed all the way to the hospital then died. My neighbor jumped from the first floor and his brother threw himself under a train. My cousin's partner took a hotel stay to hang herself. A friend threw her car into a truck. Another friend's father threw himself off a cliff. My uncle committed suicide, but the family was never very clear about the method. A teacher at my school killed himself in his car with the exhaust pipe. The wife of a dear friend drank trichlorethylene and yes and must have suffocated to death from the swelling, not a safe gift. I don't remember the others well.

Only two people who I knew personally.

A 17 year old girl in the psych ward. I knew her for 6 month. I am sure she wouldn't really die and wanted to be rescued, because of the way she acted the minutes before she died. But nobody believes her and so nobody take a look to what she do. That's very sad.

The second was a friend. She was rapped. And died two month later. It happened 27 years ago, but I am still thinking about her.

Both are hanging.

The other people I don't really knew personally.

I remembered another one -- one of my children's classmates' dad shot his mom and then killed himself. Drugs, alcohol, a swinger's lifestyle which broke up their marriage and massive debt were the reasons.

I know one dude who killed himself like, 15 years ago. I knew him from elementary school. He was fucked up even as an 8 year old so that wasn't a surprise.

Literally no one else. Apparently all of my friends/family are more well-adjusted than I am.

My great-grandfather's son's son's daughter committed suicide. She battled schizophrenia. I will be the second person in the clan.

My cousin died from an intentional heroin overdose, then his father hung himself because he couldn't handle losing his son.

I've had two family members pass from suicide. One of which i unfortunately saw the aftermath of at a young age. Both hung themselves and had wives and children.

My best friend killed herself. I miss her so much but understand why
