Mine has increased my sex drive and wants me to find some. It's been years so maybe it's not the SI. I can't stop going over every opportunity I had that I turned down.

Sorry to hear, it's an awful condition. Are you receiving treatment at the moment?
There is no treatment for this curse. ERP therapy is worse than the ocd. I will never do it again. The meds don't do anything for me.

Sorry about your experiences. I don't know what kind of help there is out there for OCD. I hope you keep trying to get help. I can see you've been really caught up with these thoughts and it's been distressing you greatly.

That's really interesting. I'll read up on that. That gives hope that there's a chance to discover a cure for this one day.

Let's hope that the Lobotomy stays in the dark age of Psychiatry.
My ocd is complicated by my ptsd. Meditation helped the anxiety until I developed a chronic asthmatic cough. I also just developed an enlarged prostrate, so I have to urinate more often. This shit never ends lol

That's because you used to meditate on breath right? Have you ever tried to meditate using a different object than breath?

The fear of chickening out last minute and being left far worse off than I was before. As miserable as I am, my survival instinct always seems to come out on top. It's infuriating, like I'm waging an unwinnable war within myself.

Yeah that's right. I remember meditating once and my whole body vibrated. It was great

How do I do that?

I feel it too. The worst part about life is that everything is in our head. We want connection but it's not really possible. We experience things alone (even around other people) and we die alone (even if surrounded by other people).

Well usually when you "observe" your breath it's just to keep your mind concentrated on one single "object". They usually choose breath because it's the easiest thing to be used in meditation. But actually you can meditate focusing your attention on everything: an image you choose to visualize in your mind, a particular sensation on your body, even your asthmatic cough (you can observe how it develops in your throat, how develops and how it ends), etc. I practiced meditation as well and was of big help for anxiety and panic attacks.

I'm not meditating on something that wrecked my life such as my cough.

I like the image idea. How do I do it? Won't I be breathing deeply while focusing on it thus defeating the purpose?

Sit in a comfortable position and close your eyes. Just breath as you use to do normally, without forcing anything.
Choose an image you like and visualize it in your mind; keep your attention on it. If your mind start producing other images, ideas, noises, or whatever be aware of it and gently move your attention back to the image you decided to observe. Just try to be focused only on that image; if your mind start wandering again (this could happen numerous times) just move your attention to the image again and again. That's it! :D
