Jumping as a method is just pure gambling. There are people surviving greater heights and being in pain afterwards, and then there is news like this

It's truly surprising how durable yet fragile a human body can be.. but then again weight and height could also contribute to the success. And of course like you said- Luck. Ultimately I can't help but feel a little jealous of his succes though.. ( ´_ゝ`)

People die hitting their head on the ground while standing, or falling off short ladders etc. Anything's possible.
