Joy Division singer Ian Curtis hung himself on an indoor clothes dryer line. His wife found him dead. I wonder how much pain he experienced. One of my music heroes.

I used a thin scarf, like out of a material similar to silk, and I'm not sure what you mean by placement sorry, I was on my knees and like leaned forward and used a doorknob ahah
What kind of knot did you use

I'm planning to do partial in about 2 weeks (I'm away from home now). But I can't find my carotid arteries and am afraid of failure.
Do full then

Instead of partial, I might do full using my door and doorknob. I'd throw the rope over the door. I wouldn't be high up, but still off the floor.

Ive tried 4months ago, with cable to a gas pipe, couldnt lose consciousness. Throat was red and it was hard to swallow. I needed hide my neck at work for one week.

Before that ive also tried to strangle myself, bled my eyes. I was close to pass out, im angry at myself for not being able to stand few seconds more.

Fucking SI.
Full or partial?

What do you think is the best rope thickness to pinch the carotid.

I get the impression the larger rope may feel better but less likely to do the job quickly. But the thinner it is, the more the pain

I hung myself with a belt on a chin-up bar when I was 15. It was completely painless ... I lowered myself down and then I immediately felt faint and passed out. I woke up sometime later on the floor covered in blood and completely confused. Apparently the metal tip at the end of the belt popped out from my full body weight and caused the knot to un-tie ... and then hit my head on the garbage can I used to step up to reach the "noose". I never planned to hang myself I was just testing it out and the fainting feeling just came on so quickly before I could do anything.

I have SN ready to go, also have a tank full of nitrogen with a betty bag .... but part of me still thinks hanging might be the best way. I often wonder how many people accidentally kill themselves when testing out hanging because it happens so fast. I assumed when I heard about Anthony Bourdain that he was just testing it out and didn't mean to do it.

Almost all times my head got really hot and the pressure to your head rises and a wave of calmness and numbness rushes over my body.
I do not want anybody here to read what I say and maybe get a wrong feeling about It but... fuck this felt actually good when I tried It (attempted to ctb), there is a reason people like being choked. It felt like taking of a really tight shoe. But Idk what comes after that, maybe there is a panic after you do It long enough. I hope not.

When I was a teenager, I put a cloth over the ceiling struts in the basement, climbed a small ladder and then pushed myself off, The clothe wrapped around my neck, I couldn't inhale or exhale, I felt warm and curiously happy. I don't remember any pain other than being uncomfortable. I blacked out and then found myself on the floor looking up. The back of my head was sore. I wasn't sure if I was dead or alive.

Obviously, the cloth broke and I survived. But if it hadn't, I'd probably be compost in someone's backyard garden.

I've hung myself as a "test" for the real thing, and it's... oddly comforting, It's not that painful at all, and like... tingly. You'll lose consiousness in 9 ish seconds if you fully block your carotids.

Yes I agree - when I was a teenager I hanged myself and before the cloth, I had tied around my neck broke, I don't remember pain - some discomfort but not pain as had expected it. If it had not broken, I am convinced I would have died.

I've failed quite a few hangings. I don't remember which things I felt during which attempt because I always get a spotty memory after, but I remember... feeling like I needed to cough, limbs weakening and going numb, a weird feeling in my eyeballs, lightheadedness, feeling like a white hot hand was clutching the back of my head. I faint often due to health problems and it was a lot like that plus neck discomfort (obviously) and the limb numbness. I know I felt very aware of everything, every small feeling in my limbs. That being said it was overall pretty okay. I've overdosed which fucking sucks. Hanging wasn't painful, just trippy and weird. Just like you're lightheaded from standing up too fast. If I didn't have a vad association with the feeling of fainting I'd try again, I think it could be peaceful. Keep in mind also my techniques were probably shit, only ever had these attempts before discovering this place. If you asked me back then if I had tried "partial" I wouldn't have known what you meant.

I have been hanged full suspension and non lethally by a partner a number of times. He lets me down as soon as my pupils are locked what is a sign of unconsciousness. It is not a bad feeling and it makes kind of addicted. Otherwise I would have not done it again and again. After 5 to 15 seconds of hanging my vision becomes kind of coarse and than I come back from a completely different situation. It take some time to realise that I was hanged and had passed out. Unconsciousness comes very quick and without warning, you should never play alone unless you really want to die. By the way the more often I was hanged non lethally the more I want not to wake up again. My next hanging will probably be lethal.
Do you remember what ligature you used and where it was placed? How painful was it?
And can you get yourself to pass out by just strangling yourself by twisting the rope around the back of your neck with just your hands? I can't seem to make myself pass out with that, even when pulling the ends of rope as hard as I can. I am afraid that I would just hang and suffocate without passing out.

I used a 20 mm mooring rope and a not constricting noose, the knot was placed between ear and eye. This is not the optimum to pass out quick but it is more safe if you want to survive the hanging. The pressure on the neck is surprisingly high but bearable.
Methodes were I can decide how high the pressure on my neck is (and not gravity) and were I can stop the process when I want to, don't work for me, I have not the willpower for that.

I tried hanging myself last May to feel the sensation. It was horrible, I felt like my head was going to explode, I was holding the rope with my hands from above. I had bruises on both sides of my neck. This method is very painful, but relatively quick

I had an NDE the last time I attempted. It felt like coming home - true silence and peace. Then I woke up with my blood all over the floor, unable to move my neck and in complete agony due to the strain. It didn't make me stop wanting to die, it made me desire it even more.

What I was wondering is if you experience the symptoms you get before passing out such as vision loss when manually strangling yourself, that's what I am struggling with achieving

I guess you put instinctively not enough pressure on your neck. This way it will work: Throw the rope over a horizontal beam, step on a stool, put the noose around your neck, hold the other end with your hands and step carefully off the stool. When you pass out you will fall on the ground, which should be very soft. For safety reasons the noose should not constrict.
