I am doing my best to recover, however, when the world beats me down, I find it very hard to get up. It's even harder knowing that I am on my own to recover and move forward in life. Those of us who are fighting and recovering, how do you remain strong?

I structure my day. I know things that make me depressed and i try to avoid it. Sometimes it seduces me too strong and for a certain period of time i can think about suicide etc. But there is always an end for this thoughts. I try to find solutions for my problems that do not mean ctb. Finding coping mechanisms is important i guess. For me my hobbies and friends help me a lot.

my little sister helps me to keep going, since she enjoys the time that we spend together and needs me in her life. my goals (short-term) give me something to strive for and a reason to keep going.

I look at other people in other countries and cultures and I thank the universe I wasn't born into that. For example I've been looking into my old religion that I was born into, Islam, and as a woman I am so thankful and happy that I was born in a white country with lenient parents. I am hearing lots of horror stories about women living in Muslim countries, and about apostates having to pretend to follow the cult. I breathe a huge sigh of relief everytime I talk to these poor sad people.

Not only that, but just not being born in any barbaric time period or place, not starving or being a sex slave. I am so so so thankful and relieved that I'm living in my mom's basement in Canada doing fuck all, and having everything I need.
