Someone calling you emo doesn't mean anything. Emo is a specific subculture that stems from a specific genre of music (emo music), similar to goth, punk, ravers, metalheads, etc. If you do not identify as emo and do not listen to that genre of music then you aren't emo. Simple as that.

I don't listen to emo music, I think they meant emo as in depressed

It's a vacuous term used by a toxic culture that stigmatizes emotional vulnerability (particularly in men). Probably a large reason why so many men hide their feelings and end up like us. You're not "emo" if you're depressed or if you feel emotions, just human.
