There have been bogus suicides in the past and by very popular members who were
always in the chat box which caused all kinds of chaos when they suddenly rose from the dead.

There have also been people with multiple accounts. It was a problem and one of the reasons
I drifted away from here. There was no way to verify what someone had written was the truth or even
who the person was.

But the problem of being less than forthright has existed since social media came into being.
I have had friends on other sites who could manage three distinct personalities at a time. And I didn't like them
any less because of it.
It doesn't work for me. I just don't see the point. Or have the energy. But while having people confused about my identity and activity doesn't
make me feel better, I can see how other people might temporarily benefit from the attention they receive.
That's not an indictable offense.

So as stated above unless you know the person you really don't know.

Unfortunately, you cannot know for 100% certain unless someone in contact with the user outside of the forum (via phone, social media, etc) can vouch for their passing. We can only speculate that the user passed unless they return to the forum after the fact.
