The thing that's supposed to happen is it prevents you from vomiting. If you aren't nauseous or vomiting, there's nothing for it to do. All you managed to test is if you have any side effects. You didn't, so all good there. But there's no way in advance to see if it'll do its actual job or not unless you're in danger of vomiting.
Testing it on yourself is easy. Take one and see how it goes.
If you're worried about the efficacy of the pill itself. Check the expiry first obviously. Then check to make sure they are properly sealed and not fuzzy looking. If the pill takes too much moisture or time it'll begin to "fray."
