What do you mean by "without doing damage"? Without actually dying?
Without damaging my neck or dying obviously. I'm not dying in my room. I just want to test it here.

There's always a risk of damage. If the vagus nerve is triggered, there's a risk of it telling the heart to stop pumping. Although it's rare for this to happen, it could. It could also make you pass out, even after relieving the pressure and your vision goes back to normal...this happened to me when I squeezed my arteries and let go..my vision went back to normal then I felt my heart skip a beat(or something else?), then I passed out and my parents found me in the bathroom...lesson LEARNED. So definitely do NOT fasten the tail end of the rope, or it could be a death sentence.

To test partial 'as safely' as possible, I put beanbags around where I was standing on the floor, I put the rope over my basement ceiling beam, then I placed the noose around my neck and held the other side of the rope with my other hand. If I had passed out, hopefully I would've landed on the beanbags and let go of the rope. I never did pass out in this scenario though, FYI. I also have decided on sn now because I fear the brain damage and being found early(plus other technical issues I had with feeling suffocation).

How are you planning to practice? Using your door+belt or a bed post and rope? Which position(kneeling, sitting, standing, etc)?

Sheets (or a belt, but sheets are softer) works for the hanging part. You need something steady to tie the sheet. A friend of mine used his oven (he was in jail and they had heat radiators In every room). They're slippy so when you fall asleep your body will slide down and tighten the sheet around your neck. Fall to sleep heavily is essential to succede partial, and you'll need some serious pills and/or alcohol.

I was thinking of practicing with an extension cord. So could I do it and then pull out when my vision starts to turn black? Then my heart could stop as I'm walking back to bed? That would be pretty great actually.

Well, I guess it could, but it's not very likely that your heart will stop..if only it was that easy(again, it's possible, but unlikely).

I thought you don't want to die(yet). Testing and then pulling out as your vision fades is very dangerous. I've done this. I stopped caring about safety and secured the rope to my ceiling. The thing is that I almost passed out before and had a LOT of trouble getting out. If I hadn't gotten out, I'd likely have died. It's very easy to go from feeling like 'oh, my vision is turning purple' to 'what the hell is happening', because you get confused and can pass out fast before you even know it. So please be careful. I really struggled to get out that one time. I actually had this happen once in my back yard at the swing set too, because my chair was at an angle and I struggled to step back onto it. To add to those 2 experiences, my legs were numb and my arms were getting there, so it was very hard to use them properly.

An extension cord could work. I decided on rope though because I thought an extension cord didn't seem flexible enough around my neck.

Dude, please don't practice by securing it, until you're positive that you want/are ready to die.

I tried kneeling and pulling up. Didn't work

Happened to me one of the days after initially testing to try and faint, I wrapped a belt around my neck and pulled it, but it wasn't until several minutes after taking off the belt that I suddenly just lost consciousness without warning. Not sure if it was jugular veins being able to drain the built up blood in my head that caused a sudden drastic drop in blood pressure, who knows…
