Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Hey all,
I need to see a doctor to look into further treatment options, but I'm deathly afraid of them.
Almost every doctor that I've seen, especially in the psychological field, have treated me like an animal the moment I tell them my symptoms.
For reference, I hear voices, and there is someone else in my head that is getting more and more aggressive as the year goes on.
The moment I tell them this, they change. It's really creepy. Almost every time they end up wanting to sedate me.
I'm afraid if I reach out and am completely honest about this second soul and the voices, the psychologist will send me to a ward. F THAT.
Has anyone else struggled with this? How did you go about it?? Please tell your story.

I do not have the same experience as you, I also used to fear doctors (still kind of do but much less now) but more in a shame kind of thing and being afraid of being laughed at or misunderstood. So I do not know how to approach this specific situation, but I'd say look for the opinions of other people with similar problems as you and see doctors they recommend? I know it's probably not easy to access, but generally knowing more about the doctor you're going to helps, I think. It helps choose the correct person who will treat you with dignity, and also it takes away some of the fear.

One element that might be useful is to remember that you have ultimate control. You have the right to decline any suggestions of medication that is offered.

Honestly, it's the realization that you need the help and sometimes being forward is the only way.

I always advocate for myself at my doctor's appointments and I have made a lot of progress for the disability route doing so.

I make sure to prepare notes and I'm firm on what I want accomplished as no one else will do anything for my situation.

A lot of people clown on A.I. but I use the paid version of ChatGPT and it has helped greatly.
