I was also fairly clueless, but what was pointed out to me was a site called localbitcoins (dot) com You can buy and send bitcoins instantly. If you are a new user, they will ask you for verification like a license photo or some other sort of identifying information to make sure you are a human to to protect their own asses. I feel as though that kind of verification is going to be standard with trying to buy and send bitcoins quickly. Coinbase has a waiting period, so unless you want to wait 2 weeks, don't use it. localbitcoins was easy and fast.
