Restraint Method #1
They tie down your wrists and ankles tightly, the restraints are attached to the side of the bed.
1a. Both of your arms are to your side.
1b. One of your arms is pointed up, and the other one is to your side.
1c. Both of your arms are pointed up.
1d. They place a pillow under your head to restrict movement.
1e. They tie your legs together.
1f. They allow some movement.
1g. They combine it with any other method or its variations.
1h. They put a mask or a helmet on you.
1i. They strap your head to the bed.
Restraint Method #2
They use a harness that is wrapped around your waist and in between your legs to restrain you to the bed.
2a. They allow some movement, but you are unable to exit the bed.
2b. They combine it with any other method or its variations, such as also restraining your limbs.
2c. They put a mask or a helmet on you.
2d. They place a pillow under your head to restrict movement.
2e. They tie your legs together.

What Type Of Restraints Are Used
The restraints being used can be of any type. Some common locking mechanisms they use include: Velcro, buckles, buttons, and knots. In some wards they add tape on top of the locking mechanisms to make it harder for you to break out of.
Some examples of the parts of the body they strap down are: head, neck, wrists, ankles, torso, waist, legs.
When strapping down arms, they sometimes use a method of strapping one arm up, and one arm down.
If you want to know some examples of the restraints used, search up:
1. Pinel Medical Restraints
2. Posey Restraints
3. Locking Bed Restraints
You can also find some good demonstrations of how they restrain patients using "medical" restraints on YouTube.

Before anyone says, "Don't get put in the psych ward to begin with," that isn't the question. This question assumes that you didn't avoid getting admitted into the psych ward. But still feel free to mention anyways to plan and prepare for an escape before getting admitted into the psych ward. Also feel free to brainstorm ideas to escape the psych ward itself, not just the restraints.

If you have any ideas on how to escape, please make sure to include how you are restrained, and what restraints are being used. Include details about the hypothetical situation. I've included some restraint methods at the top of this thread for convenience.

If you have been restrained it's only for a reason. People go around telling people they are going to CTB then get locked up, go figure.

Tell them what they want to hear and behave. Be home by dinner. Trying to escape will just make it worse.

It would be better to avoid getting restrained in the first place. If you are sent to a psych ward, don't give them a reason to restrain you. Stay calm and cooperate with them. Don't try to escape or start acting aggressively toward the staff. Just behave yourself and you will be sent home in no time.

Lol behave yourself ☝️😁
Sounds bad buts it's true. People on the forum all the time moaning about police and medical staff restraining them.

If someone is going around telling people they want to CTB, they get sectioned.

I just don't like it when people attack police and nurses for trying to help.

If you don't want to be sectioned, stop the announcement of your plans to CTB. Sounds harsh but I'm sorry its an outright fact. If you tell a nurse you are going to slice yourself up, do we really expect them to let that person back into society?

Its their job to stop you.
SI can sometimes be caused by a mental illness.
in the eyes of the police and doctors they assume anyone who wants to CTB is insane
as they cant fathom any rational for suicide.

The Yale Lectures on "The rationality of suicide" is a good watch
but good luck getting the police or psychiatrists to listen to you.

You don't. Even if you manage to slip the restraints (essentially impossible without physically breaking them), you aren't getting out of the ward. You tell them you're feeling better, they let you out in a few days.

Police fucking hate mental health calls. And plenty of nurses really don't give a shit.

Just because they try to stop suicide doesn't necessarily mean they care. Many of us have keenly experiences that absurd contradiction.

Harry Houdini used to do it. Maybe his secrets are public now.
