I'll preface that I have no visible or identifiable self harm marks, and I had a phobia of blood during my teenage years so I never cut. But I noticed that every time I've seen my psychiatrist, he would do a once over (or twice over) at any exposed areas like wrists, elbow (I assume for track marks), and when the weather warmed and I finally showed up in shorts, he was either surprised by how bizarrely pale I am (I'm a ghost boo) or was seeing if there were marks on my legs, either. He wasn't super obvious about it but I am a little alien that observes people's behavior a little too closely, making a psychiatry office a bit of a PvP zone.
I never had anything for him to notice other than the sparkly skin of a twilight vampire, but I guess I'm a little curious. For those of you with visible SH marks, how did mental health professionals respond to it? Silent? Got fuckin weird? Assumed you were attention-seeking? Judgy?
