How did you found SaSu?

I was researching methods and somehow came across a thread here. Don't even remember which one

I found SaSu through the Reddit subreddits SaSu and TrueSaSu before they were both nixed by shitty Reddit admins (in early 2018). I was active on the subrredit TTG (now inactive and has been quarantined since years ago) before formally joining the SaSu forum here.

I participated in the subreddit in the beginning of its lifetime , 2014-2015. Then suicide retreated from the forefront for some time at one point of which I learned that an independent site was created after the subreddit was banned. And now here I am back again.

I think when ss was mentioned in some magazine article. It was in August 2022. I wish I have heard about it earlier, sometime before April 2022 when N was available from D. I would have bought it right away. I am blaming myself every day not doing proper research. I was looking for a peaceful CTB method since September 2020. I knew about N but gave up too early on it as not obtainable out side of pharmacies. I don't know whether it's my laziness or stupidity. What ever it's I am suffering. Stupid me.

It was years ago in my case, so it's hard to remember, but I believe that I was trying to search for information about suicide methods and then I came across a news article about this site, but it didn't mention the name of it. It was one of the ones about someone who died after being on here, just some pro life type nonsense, but soon enough I managed to find this site as I wanted to know about suicide methods. But sadly years later I'm still here as upon finding this site I learned about how difficult suicide unfortunately is.

Same with me, except oddly enough, the article mentioned the name of the site. Otherwise, I do not think I could have found it as it does not come up in Google when searching...for me at least

I found it from a popular Youtuber who recently made a video about it. This is an interesting community, it feels so much more authentic than any other online forum. No bots, no shills, no astro-turfers, no trolling, just honest and interesting discussion about a variety of tough topics. I may not be the target demographic, but this will be interesting

I Googled the name and here I am so I guess the article didn't scare everyone away and by mentioning the name of the website and the context may have driven people here instead.

I saw Tantacrul's video and then googled for a few minutes. I've followed him for a number of years and think he's brilliant. But I can't quite agree with his harsh criticism of this website and the people who run it.
I've always thought that our society has a very irrational appoach to suicide. Sometimes suicide is a horrible mistake, sometimes it's a sad but understandable choice, sometimes it's a happy end, a relief from endless suffering to be celebrated. I sympathise with the agony of the people left behind, especially parents, but their pain is not enough reason to justify the censorship of the concept of suicide.
I think Tantacrul has a fair point that not enough is being done on this website to keep minors away from the precipice. On the other hand, maybe it's better they can read facts, making it less likely they will commit ill-prepared suicide attempts, and maybe it's a good thing they can find a forum with plenty of resources to reconsider. And if it's true that some members actively encourage others to commit suicide without sanction, that is a serious failure on the part of moderation and that needs to be fixed.

What brought me here, is a general disagreement with common attitudes regarding suicide.
I find it odd that our culture is full of references to words like assassination, murder, homicide, massacre, genocide; we know of countless methods to kill other people legally and illegally, from guns to knives to electric chairs to poisoning, hanging, throwing off a high building, drowning, bombing, running them over, strangling, starving them, torturing them, etc. etc. We can all access the details about how these methods work and how effective they are, as well as the tools. But when it comes to killing oneself, the only case of murder where "both parties" actually consent, nooooooo.... cannot mention it! That makes no sense to me at all.
This lack of logic is a clear marker of where people's rational thought process is disturbed by emotions and tradition. And that's where I get interested to know more. I'm allergic to illogical reasoning.

I have long held a plan to kill myself, roughly 18 years from now, and when the time is ripe, I want to be well-informed and prepared to carry out my plan with precision. It's sad that you can't just go to a doctor or a government agency and get some accurate information, instead of having to find information in the dark corners of the web. It just doesn't make sense to me at all.
Why do we have national targets of zero suicide? Why do we have to force everyone to stay alive, even when their life is full of suffering with no hope of relief?
So all of these dogmas underlying Tantacrul's video made me want to come here and find a safe haven where I can express these thoughts without having to risk getting hated, excluded, shunned or forced into treatment.

high five! i also came here from the tantacrul video. i honestly still don't trust this website and i think there are issues with how some things are handled here. i would feel sick encouraging anyone to commit suicide or providing information that would help them do so... but i suppose that makes me a hypocrite seeing as i'm on here actively researching ways to ctb and trying to procure the means to do so. i guess i have no right to judge anyone in that regard
