People in authoritarian countries crave for freedom and democracy.
And people who live in actual democracies are and more tired of (liberal) democracy.

Personally, I am very grateful to live in a working democracy like Germany. But more and Mord people lose faith in democracy. And vote for parties that don't democratic values.

'The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence' I suppose. I don't think as humans we are all that great at appreciating what we have. We'd rather focus on the negatives and look for someone/ something to blame. Then, I suppose being problem solvers by nature, we start to wonder if a different leader, a different political system, a different job, a different location would sort our problems out.
