This topic is quite frightening to many I assume, including myself. It has been the main thing holding me back from death, aside from failing again and causing worse brain damage than did the last attempt. It appears we live in some war cosmos either ruled by either nothing, or a sadistic god that loves to see creatures torture one another. If we are being honest with ourselves, we probably know nothing about the nature of reality, besides the fact that it is driven by suffering. I would love to have hope in some pleasant afterlife awaiting us but I'm not so optimistic after seeing how creatures are built, driven, and dealt with on planet earth. Currently, I'm highly confused as to why we find ourselves in this absurd and tragic predicament of existence, but more specifically, I feel terrible for fellow sufferers like us who have clearly been pushed to the edge. I am leaning towards the speculation of the prison planet theory. Perhaps this is a cosmic dumpster, prison, laboratory, gas station, or any combination of the former. I wish we could know with certainty what awaits us after we die without having to commit, and know what the consequences are of checking out of this meat grinder of a world. This was a bit of a rant and I apologize. Please feel free to share your thoughts as to what you think awaits after death, if anything, and to vent if you also have a fear of what's to come.

Hopefully you guys aren't suffering much.

I don't know what awaits after death, which is the main reason why I haven't CTB'd. There are ways to achieve happiness on this planet (as difficult as that can be), but I have no way to know if the earthly happiness I'm familiar with would be achievable after death.

I am going to make an honest attempt at becoming a Christian before I die, so that I can believe in a place like heaven where my soul can go to rest.

For me, death is very final. I don't believe in anything in the afterlife, although, the thought of reincarnation and rebirth is very interesting to me. Although it is too much of a stretch, my belief is grounded in realism. Death is just the final point in our lives.

I believe the afterlife is nothing, a purgatory, if you will. It's like before you were born, you don't feel anything.

I'm very conflicted between Biblical afterlife (Heaven or Hell) or the prison planet theory. Both of them have alot of evidence to support, but at the end of the day there is no way to know 100% what it's gonna be, atleast not in my opinion. I just hope I'm not gonna spend eternity in hell when I ctb

Religious or atheist; not knowing what will happen after the lights get turned off is a frightening prospect. Considering I've got nothing and no one to live for, unlike a majority on here, I'm prepared for the afterlife 🙂.

I always think of the following when it comes to reincarnation, afterlife etc:
1. Do you remember being alive before you were born ?
2. If we do posses an eternal spirit, then you will know everything there is to know. So why do babies not know anything when they are born, if your spirit is incarnated into a human body ?
3. Why do mentally handicapped people suffer the way they do if they possess an eternal spirit ? Surely the all powerful, eternal spirit can think independantly of the brain ?
4. God is a man made construct, as are all man-made religions. All of these religions are fear based control mechanisms.
5. Human existence is one of meaningless suffering. Even rich, beautiful and successful people have their share of suffering. Look at all the people in the film, music industry who are unhappy and turn to drugs and alcohol, despite supposedly having it all. Happiness is an illusion.
6.This god character is either powerless, evil, or non-existent.

I'm curious, I really want to know, but I put my bet there will be nothing left at all. Insignificant, lost, extinct and forgotten without meaningful trace. I will not exist, eternal in absentia.

You are right, this place is driven by suffering. Always has been. This is the most difficult place to have a life in, and all of Home (Heaven), knows that. The good, don't like it here. The negative, thrives. This is the hardest place to live in, and I'm not coming back, ever. Once I'm Home, (which I remember), there's no way I can come back and put myself through 38 years again. You won't be forced to come back here. I am ready to cast away all of the "gifts" this place has to offer. Nothing compares to anything we have Home.

I'll face whatever is in the afterlife when the time comes. Hard enough trying to keep shit together on here to instead be worrying about something that may or may not exist.

I do not believe in any afterlife, I believe that when we die, we cease to exist and that is it for us, we are gone. I look forward to death a lot, when I am gone nothing will be able to hurt me as there will be no more 'me', instead there will be nothing. I envy those who have left this world behind and when I hear of someone dying I wish it was me. I only fear the method failing and life in general as existing is a form of torture that no one should have to endure against their wishes.

Could you please explain a little more about how it is in the bible? I don't know what to think anymore...
