We want to exist forever and want everything to get better if we could have a magic wand, we would change everything

Sure, I get that there's this impulse in us. Rationally speaking though, there's nothing to fear about nothingness. Non-existence precludes the existence of anything to be feared.

I guess that's obvious and the trick is in getting the rational part of your brain to override the irrational part that fears death. I've never really been afraid of non-existence so I have no advice to give on how to achieve that state. Maybe just meditating on how there can be nothing bad about nothingness might help a bit.

the Sun is not going to explode for another 5 to 7 billion years earth has another 5 to 7 billion years left
The Big Freeze. Astronomers once thought the universe could collapse in a Big Crunch. Now most agree it will end with a Big Freeze. ... Trillions of years in the future

when your dead there is nothing to fear but when your alive it cause extreme fear for alot of people eternal nothingness, i'm not afraid to die anymore and hopefull leave this horrible world behind soon, if i had my way i'd nuke the whole planet just to be sure this place could never bring me alive ever again.

I am looking forward to nothingness. When you are dead, you simply do not experience anything and that is true peace. We were all perfectly fine not existing until we were forced to live. Death is an end to all suffering and it is freedom from this life.

Nothingness is true peace. Think back to what you were before you were born. That is what I assume death to be. No pain, no problems.
It is the ego that fears death.

I guess you can think of it as going to a deep sleep you never wake from. But yeah it is hard to conceptualize nonexistence. You just have no reference point.

I still can't wrap my brain around eternal nothingness but it surprises me that people are so dead set on the certainty of there being nothing after death, however the opposite could very well be true. It is the biggest mystery on earth but it is inevitable whatever comes next.

the universe is a mystery that can never be understood .the universe has been around for 13.7 billion years, there's only ever been 100 billion humans alive dating back 300,000 years, the universe still as trillions of years left to go before it ends

Our consciousness is the byproduct of our brain perceiving the world and itself. I don't know why people are so dead set on believing in an afterlife when there is zero basis for it. Do you remember the 13 billion years before your existence?

It is hard to conceptualize nonexistence but people should not willfully be ignorant just to escape their existential dread. This is how religions got so powerful. Because people willingly allowed themselves to be deceived in return for comforting thoughts.

I don't have to accept anything even nothingness. I don't try to rationalise why I feel like I do.

For once in my life I have complete control of my destiny (me and Si of course). My advice is not to try and find answers because either they just don't exist or you won't like what you find.

The reason for my zero self worth has come about from speaking to a counsellor, so now I understand the what bit of how I was treated and how that feeling of no self worth started I don't think or want to understand why me.

Nothingness could be many things, the only sure thing is that it means I don't have to put up with this life and self loathing any longer
