Method How about this for a jumping spot?

I doubt it will matter what you land on.

As a complete aside, I'm in a very unique situation where I'm a qualified pilot but I don't like heights.
I'm comfortable flying at thousands of feet, but dislike being in tall buildings.
I think it's because of the fear of it falling down.
Not completely rational, I know!

Warrick Castle is 147ft (my closest) and that is tall ! I think there would be little chance of survival. Most of these castles also don't have tall barriers

The first thing I did when I read your interesting post about King Alfred's Tower was whether it had already been used by a suicidal jumper. St Paul's Cathedral, for example, had no history of suicidal jumpers until one enterprising figure skater chose to plunge 100ft from the Whispering Gallery. A student followed suit 18 months later and also jumped from the Whispering Gallery. Needless to say, security are probably now more watchful of anyone behaving suspiciously around the Whispering Gallery.
