In the woods? Doesn't matter. An abandoned house? Doesn't mater. Your place? Who do you live with, if anyone? A hotel? You probably want to book a room for an day in advance, and leave a Do Not Disturb sign up.
Oh lol, you are doing it in a hotel. My recommendation would be, if you can afford it, to book the room for multiple days in a row. Say, three. Go stay overnight the first night, CTB on the second, and leave the Do Not Disturb sign up the third night.

Do not distirb signs don't always work- sometimes housekeepers want to get going on thier work and they'll try to go in anyway- don't count on the sign working. Just make sure the second lock is on the goes across the door. I have worked in the hotel business quite a bit, and i think the safest option is to do it on your first night, because the earliest anyone will go in is maybe 8am or so the first morning you are there. You just hope neighbors don't hear, but you never know. Doing the meds protocol as closely as possible helps for reducing noise risk. Sunday is the slowest night of the week so the odds of having guests in neighboring rooms is a little lower on Sunday night.
Either way, a I'd do it for multiple nights. Tell the people downstairs you're there for work and don't wish to be disturbed.
That's a good idea but keep in mind that housekeeping staff turns over a lot and they don't always listen to instructions. They sometimjes may try to go in by 7am. If you don't take the sn by 2am then I would abort the mission and try for an other night.
You might be able to scotch tape the instructions (do not disturb, I am working and it is very sensitive, please no housekeeping) to the door. Another decent thing to do, simply because it would be the kind thing to do, wouod be to take the SN in the bathroom or on the floor beside the bed, and leave a note in the room saying there's a dead body in the room. That way nobody is disturbed by you. I might also recommend requesting a corner room, at the end of a hallway. That way you only have to worry about two neighbors hearing you - the one behind your room and the one in the other side - and not three.

I think you probably haven't worked in the hotel business- you don't want to do anything to draw extra attention to yourself/extra patrols by your room. If you request a corner room I know I would ask for patrols by the room as much as possible because it sounds like something suspicious is going on there- security may even listen at the door a lot if you send up a giant red flag like that- I would not request a corner room, no one ever does that, that would be a ginat red flag for possible illegal activity. There is not a way to scotch tape instructions to the door taht will not look suspicious on the outside, and on the inside it wobn't be seen. The most important things is to seem like any other chec k-in- don't have a lot of extra instructiuonbs or else security will watch the room closely. Just use the do not disturb sign that is in the room. Hotel security is usually bored, if you give them any reason to be suspicious of your room they will watch it a lot more closely.
One thing you\ can do for a hotel is to ask for a quiet area because you're a light sleeper- that way they will try to keep you away from elevators that have a lot of traffic or other areas that are really busy.
I'm not sure if you guys have been in the hotel since COVID has started but during the first year or two housekeeping didn't even come to the door from what I remember. I had to go downstairs and grab my own towels and stuff.
Yes, that has changed quite a bit, things are starting to go back some, but it's true that a lot of hotels still don't go in every day. BUt if you're chekcing out on d ay, if you do a one night stay, housekeeping may try to go in at maybe 7am or 8am in case you have already left.
It's nothing to worry about though- sn takes from 40 minutes to 4 hours. Just make sure you take the sn by 2am and yuo have nough timne- whether neighbors will hear is a crapshoot though- sometimes this happens and an ambulance is called, sometimes it seem to go bbetter than this and work, based on posts.

If I was gonna do it at a hotel, I'd pick a seedy one where ppl being loud or parties, whatever isn't uncommon. I plan to give myself at least 12hrs, door locked n deadbolt.

I may be wrong here but in the UK some pubs have rooms above them that play music quite late till around 12am, it is a possibility that this may be a batter option as apparently when taking a cocktail mix of SN - the body may make some unusual noises and move around a bit - but with the music covering this then it would be a good idea to do this as soon as you get into the hotel, by the time the morning comes then you will have passed to the otherwise if all goes to plan.
Ye I can be possible to do it in a regular hotel but maybe put a action film on replay on the tv a few times so any guests will think any weird noises are coming from the TV but not too loud as then they may report that room to reception and you will have staff banging at the door - and no response will alert them into thinking something is wrong.
