I was originally planning on doing it in my apartment. But my body probably won't be found for weeks. I was thinking about checking into a hotel room. What are some general guidelines for this?

I plan on reserving a room for 2 days and asking for no housekeeping when I check in. Also put the 'do not disturb' sign on the door knob and barricade the door with the furniture just in case. I figure I will ctb in the late evening or early night time. That should give around 36 hours before housekeeping enters the room and discovers my body.

I read that large chain hotels have a protocol for suicide. So this is probably better than doing it at home. Any advice or tips would be nice thank you.

One thing I would not do is to barricade the door with furniture- the reason is because it will only slow someone down a few seconds, maybe a minute if you're lucky, but if you survive you could get prosecuted for violating fire code and this could put you in jail- there is no real benefit to barricading with furniture, there are only downsides to this step. I would put the deadbolt on to keep an employee from accidentally walking in on you- that's the best you can do. It depends on what your method is whether a hotel room or an apartment is better, plus it depends on whether your apartment or hotel room has better soundproofing. If you did use your apartment it would most likely not take weeks to be discovered because the smell of decomposition would carry into the hall in maybe 3 or 4 days most likely.

Holy shit I am glad I made this thread. I never even thought about surviving or possibly being thrown in jail. Man this is making me super anxious. I don't want to do it in my apartment but if hotels are this tricky.

My shitty apartment building already reeks of cigarettes, weird food smells, and garbage because of terrible neighbors. Trust me no one will find my body for weeks.

I honestly dont understand why would you care if nobody find your body for weeks. This will be the situation for me and I couldnt care less about anything that happen after Im gone, since I wont be here to face any of the consequences.
The only serious thing that do bother me is the grief caused to my family, because of course it will have great impact that will last for years. But all other stuff are just minor inconvinients. I dont give a shit what happen to my body after Im dead

You could schedule an email to be sent to someone who could call some kind of team to get you?

I don't like the idea of my body just rotting away for weeks and I want to make the cleanup as easy as possible. Plus I think it might be easier to do somewhere else than home.

I don't have anyone I can rely on to take care of this. Large hotel chains already know how to deal with suicides. So I figure this will make it as seemless as possible. My only fear is that the local newspaper will write a story about me and use my name. I don't want to be known as the guy who committed suicide.

i would do it in your apartment. once you're gone it doesn't matter who finds you or when they find you. Doing it in a hotel or motel could lead to you being found and sent to the hospital and saved. I get that you don't want to rot away for weeks, but if you don't wan't to be caught and interrupted the apartment is the best way to do it.

I have also thought about it.

I have two options, a distant place in nature or a hotel. I do not want someone to disturb me in my apartment and that the neighbors see the removal of the corpse; In nature, when using SN, I don't feel like when they move my body, they do it from afar. It could be an extra expense. A quiet and remote place can mean that my body is transferred by helicopter. The hotel, being a site that has protocols for this, will probably take me out on a stretcher or in a wheelchair (wrapped). Nothing will be seen and my family will not have to wait weeks or consider me missing.

This is a good point. The privacy factor of doing it at home is a definite plus despite all the other downsides.

Yeah there are definitely good aspects of ctb in a hotel room. The cleanup process being taken care of by professionals is huge bonus. Lack of privacy is probably the biggest downside though. Now I am not so sure anymore where to do it.

Hi op, if you don't mind my asking, what is your method? I am planning on using a hotel as well (I have roommates and I don't want them to be the ones to find me). I am planning on using N if all goes well with the purchase but I'm still wondering about the logistics of being found in that case/ what would happen

Hi, my method is N as well. I was planning on renting out a hotel room for the weekend. Maybe have a few drinks and try to make peace with dying. Plus I think it might be easier psychologically to do it somewhere else than home.
