Discussion Hotel and hospitality workers: did you know?

I checked in to my hotel Sunday. Had a suitcase, didn't say or do anything out of the ordinary. Failed my attempt. Stayed all day in the hotel, just laying in the bed. Checked out early tonight instead of waiting until morning. The staff didn't really question it too much but I could tell they were surprised I was leaving.

So, for anyone who has worked hospitality and has been there when someone CTBed, did you know? What gave it away?
Or are you someone who was caught by staff before you could do it? What happened?
