Do you see a correlation between people who watch horror movies and their life living in pain other than happiness?

I used to love horror movies, still do but don't watch many these days. That being said I did watch the Evil Dead remake the other night and it actually made me feel quite a bit better as I wasn't feeling very good before. Regardless, my dad has told me that they can't be good for my mind and I've heard a similar sentiment from many others so it makes me question if I unknowingly am feeding myself bad visual stimulus. I don't know, I find enjoyment in them so I don't feel like that's true necessarily but it' still something I think about.
