  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I think for me it's when people are actually listening and not pushing their opinions to me.

Hello,

Thank you for your question.

As someone who has visited this site as a non-member before recently deciding to join, I find that the answer to your question varies as greatly as the the people who choose to visit this site.

For one person, a small change in their personal life, such as someone taking a genuine interest in them, either in this forum or in real life, could make the difference between that person choosing to CTB or keep living (for the present, or even for the rest of their natural lives).

Factors such as years of abuse, familial strife, mental illness, physical ailments, economic difficulties, or even just the simple trauma of watching the world's decline afflict many people here and motivate suicidal ideation, and simply venting, knowing that others here share similar pains, can be highly cathartic, possibly extending that person's life for a meaningful time or until it's natural end.

And yet another, living within the scope of their own problems while seeing those of the wider world, may see this life as simply not being worth the effort. They also may continue for a time, knowing that the changes they wish to see aren't going to occur under human society's persisting conditions. But the fact that this site exists is, in itself, evidence that someone understands. And understanding, with or without CTB, is always helpful.

Thank you for your reply. That is a helpful reply too. This site is such a safe space and talking with other people who feel the same without the fears that regular people have when faced with somebody that has suicidal ideation or actively suicidal is such a comfort when you feel like your life is out of control. I am just trying to learn what other people feel like they need. I know what I need and I usually isolate and try to keep my life as calm as possible without too much stimulation or chaos to feel better.
Hugs to you.

It depends on the cause if cbt.

For me it'd be my landlird to send me his cleaner specialist who can understand wtf chemicals did I mix, reaction with mix & materials, how to remove, seal, repair, replace... Or move me elsewhere... The sheer agony of melting in acid is... Worse than narcs and a car accident combined.

Go no contact with barcs, do self discovery by trying hobbirs & self care.

Vitamin b, c, magnesium for mental problems or healing

So some of the things I've been told are:
Go outside more (I do this plenty)
Get a hobby (I don't like doing anything)
Explore your interests (I have no interests)
Explore your spirituality (I'm a firm non believer)
Go out and meet new people (I do not have the means to keep intimate relationships)
Get involved in your community (I'm useless)
Eat healthy (I do, mostly)
Exercise (it just makes me more tired)

Seeing how nothing I've been reccomended by actual pros helps, it makes sense that the root of the problem here is me. Psychosurgery is something I need to look into, or at least a lobotomy 🧠

Acceptance is great friend of mental health, accept life and death is one inseparable thing, accept peaceful suicide, accept human's right, accept LOVE (Legal Optional Voluntary Euthanasia); Unlike hotline number which can't accept suicide and keep campaigning stigma, this acceptance is helping and it's the only true prevention from tragedy of lonely suicide mess.

Thank you for your kind response. I also prefer isolation in my efforts to keep certain external stressors to a minimum (my mind keeps me busy enough! 🙃)

I think hope is what keeps people going. In the book Man's Search for Meaning, the author was a holocaust survivor and a lot of people committed suicide at the camp. He said that the ones who committed suicide had lost hope. That if you had some meaning in life if you had a reason to live, if you have hope then you can live through anything.

I 99 percent won't have children at my age and was abandoned by my partner the last year I could have a child and he left me for another woman. So it was too late to start over. I have no hope at all. I've always wanted a family and now I will never know what that's like. So I have 0 hope for the future and I have no reasons to live because everything I do in life I will always be alone. I will be doing it for no purpose and die with no one there in the end. Will never think about my family or be with them or spend our lives together. So life is empty and pointless for me and hobbies, friends, work it means little to me. There's nothing here for me. So you can say I am a person without hope.
