Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

One method I've been considering for a while is using a helium tank. Odorless gas, simple, painless, just put me to sleep before death even occurs. I can get a pretty cheap one in one of those balloon kits at Walmart. My thinking was to wear something like a CPAP mask (also can get one pretty cheap) to feed the helium straight to my airways and minimize oxygen. My issue is I just realized that the tube of the mask will not actually connect well to the tank. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can connect them? Also, would one of those little tanks even be enough? Should I get a bigger one?

Also, if I did it in my bedroom, would that pose any danger to my roommates or anyone else in the apartment complex? I just began taking this into consideration too and started to think maybe I should do it in the car somewhere.

The balloon kits are usually 20% oxygen so that you can not suffocate with it. You need pure helium.

Well, I'm glad I asked here before I wasted my money. I appreciate the help. Definitely gives me a new perspective of it and gives me some things to take into consideration. Guess I shoulda known that plan was way too simple to be practical lol

Best advice is go to a welding surplus shop and get argon or similar. 20cf min, though 40cf is what is more common

Yes, even if you found pure hellium, it is so much more expensive than, say, nitrogen and argon. If you can, sourcing 99% nitrogen tank is better.

After joining SaSu, the best thing anyone can do is take the time to familiarize themselves with the site. If you take a look at the main page of this part of the site (suicide discussion) you should notice a number of pinned threads. That's where all the info regarding methods is. The last of the pinned threads is the Suicide Resource Compilation, which has megathreads on most viable methods. I've linked the exit bag and inert gas megathread, but you should really look over the entire SRC to see if that's really the best method for you.

So, you've already learned that balloon helium won't cut it, but that's just the beginning! Helium is not a poisonous gas. As such, it poses no threat to anyone else in your apartment. It's inert. Harmless. So is nitrogen. The inert gas method is lethal because it prevents you from breathing oxygen, and that oxygen free atmosphere will be limited to the inside of your exit bag. The amount of inert gas you'll be using will be too negligible an amount to impact the amount of oxygen in your apartment. The inert gas megathread should answer every question you could have about the method. It explains how to connect the bag (or mask, but bags or hoods are better) to your tank. It explains what size tank and what other equipment you'll need. After you've read it, you'll be up to speed, and if you still have questions, you can come back and ask them here.

Not argon. The bag will not inflate with argon, it's too heavy. I've chatted with several people who tried with argon and gave up.

Thank you so much for the info. I remember visiting that thread before I became a member but it's been some years and I guess I was overwhelmed with figuring out how to obtain the materials without raising anyone's suspicions. But I think now I'm finally at the point where I don't care if anyone's suspicious or how much the stuff costs. I really appreciate the help.

I'm sorry you're at that point, but the less suspicious people are, the better. I wish you the best of luck.
