  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Arguing that it's in the financial interests of the ruling classes to offer death on demand to those who are considered economically burdensome is the most slippery of slopes and should absolutely be avoided.
I believe the sentiment here was that governments should not restrict euthanasia as much when it is desired by citizens as there are also incentives for government itself to oblige such as overpopulation & financial reasons.

I do believe that financial reasons, more particularly the amount earned by nursing homes, are detrimental to legalizing or opening up euthanasia though.

Yes, l understand that, I'm saying any argument for government-approved death should never be couched in these terms, for very obvious reasons.

They keep on saying the world is overpopulated, so it's time for them to re think this issue, for depression, for people with terminal diseases that are in unbearable pain. It would also save them money if the people decided to go the painless way. One can only dream… only 2 countries allow euthanasia for depression, but regardless of the disease it costs millions and needs the approval of several doctors. Please ease on restrictions.
Definitely but religion is deeply ingrained in people's mind and as long as people believe that "only god" can take away your life then they see this kind of logic as "cruel" when they are the cruel ones.

In the video Inattached, the guy explains that nursing homes have been INDUSTRIALISED.
Meaning that it's about rentability minimum cost. For example, it's a software that decides what kind of diaper and how to keep a diaper. Most elderly keep their diaper for way too long because it's more rentable. The food is SHIT. the director of a nursing home explained him that it's a human factory, that old people aren't seen as human and only viewed as a product.
