My perspective is life is eternal. There never was a beginning, never will there be an end. There is, as someone wrote here, a summerland...and we all return to it...but the spirit will sometimes take a detour right after leaving to "burn off karma" as they say....if one dies with a lot of fear or aggression, they will create a temporary "hell"...I think it's important to go out with a good attitude if one wants to avoid that experience, but that's just a personal belief. I've met many people who have had NDE's, near death experiences, and there's a ton of stuff on youtube if anyone is interested. A lady named Nancy Rynes is a great interview. She was hit by an SUV, left her body, etc, was an atheist and scientist before her nde. I love her story. Since there is no time when we leave the body, in other planes, her 5 hours in surgery to fix multiple injuries, she said it felt like 3 months over "there"...She was miserable to be back and to be told she had to come back. I look at suicide as sometimes, but not always, kind of like cutting out early from school lol. But I don't think that's always the case, I believe it is also written in one's soul trajectory. That we sign up for this experience also.
Some excellent thoughts there. Of course the real truth of all these matters is beyond any words, but the words are the best approximation to help us get a sense of what things might be, which is fine.... Either way the correct view finally is just to say "we'll just wait and see", because that's the truth of it, but of course, we still like to express our views, which is fine - we just need to be aware of the limitations of doing so by realising that it's just our best guess....

Well, with the people that I have met who have died...and they have, even if for a few minutes, there is one thing they almost always say. "it was more real than this conversation or more real than you and me sitting here"...That's been said to me a few times, and there's a vibe you get from it. I've met 5 in the past half a year I live in a senior community) and it's consistently the same story...I do suggest for people to read up on it though, considering what has brought us all together. IANDS.org is a good place to start, they've amassed thousands of nde stories. There was also a tv show called beyond and back, also on youtube. Personally, I can't get enough of these stories. It wasn't as common a few decades ago, and that for sure has to do with resuscitation, medical advances, etc.

I have a strong feeling it's a huge process of letting go of any idea of your "self" here, probably some hallucinations as your brain turns off, and you just let go into oblivion, like you never existed...

My opinion :
After death, you'll go to "heaven" (there is no hell), but it's not necessarily a 100% free ride.
You'll have a "life review", where you evaluate the life you just lived, to try to extract the lessons learned.
But for the most part it will be a good experience, and support will be given where needed from guides, etc.
Your new life in heaven may last quite a while, but if your soul hasn't reached it's full potential of enlightenment yet, then it's possible that you may eventually re-incarnate, but not until you've had a damned good rest, and are ready to "go at it" again....
But I wouldn't worry too much about the re-incarnation bit, for now you just can just think of it as you're going to heaven for a pretty long time....
I like this and agree. What's made you come to this idea?

Just various things I've heard and absorbed over time. I also have a spiritual teacher (Barry Long), although he doesn't specifically focus on the afterlife that much as such, because most of life is about now, and for now we're alive....

In this regard, scientific studies have confirmed the concrete state of affairs and leave no slightest illusions.
Unfortunately, the world works differently, everyone has the right to believe what they want.
Based on empirical and rational science, one can determine who and what
there is a monotheistic God present in everyone.
There are still many views from before the world
for centuries and even thousands of years, giving room for various manipulations interest groups.
In the matter of "life" after death, and the nature of the "soul" closest to the position
today's science was Sadducees.

All the animals slaughtered everyday, what about their souls? Or humans are somehow the only animals on the planet that deserve an afterlife, even though we are the ones that cause the most destruction? It makes no sense. It is the human imagination and ego that comes up with these silly religions and fantasies because they are uncomfortable with their mortality and one day everything about them and their accomplishments will be nonexistent. What about aborted babies, they haven't even developed a sense of self, they got it easy...

I already mentioned it in other thread about afterlife but...this exactly what i hate in Christianity. Christians speak about human soul and this afterlife thingy. But i never understood why only human beings would get soul. Why they exactly were choosen? Shouldn't God love all of his creation? Every single living thing? It doesn't make any sense. Pride is considered a sin according to Christian Doctrine. But isn't existence of God that had choosen only humans to have souls greatest example of humanity's pride? I feel like only goal of such religions is to make human feel special and to justify humans crimes towards all living things. So I either opt for nothingness or some kind of reincarnation after death.

If he wanted us to go to Heaven all he would have to do is appear and tell us what's going on and what is needed of us. How many of us would not do anything unless it was in the most highs name if he did that. Sadly has not happened.

Well, with whatever the afterlife brings that we have yet to know about, I wanna start making comfort with ctbing because it'll be better than continuing to live in this world full of false illusions.

Christians talk about the soul and are not aware of their own ignorance in this topic.
They stick to this term when they really mean it
human consciousness. If they used the correct terms
all fairy tales about "afterlife" would be in ruins.
Whatever you say, Human Consciousness is something
unique not only on earth but also in known people
the universe.
The only logical thing I can conceptualize is the energy powering my brain being recycled somehow, whether that be into a plant, the air, water, or other life form... who knows
In the empirical science, a new field of Quantum Mechanics has recently been created. According to her, the basic (quantum) state is the state of undetermined superposition in which
quantums are energy alone while possessing the characteristics of particles. That the quantums take a specific position
observation is needed - contact with the observer.
It follows that the Big Bang, the universe, and the resulting life
and its evolution is also the result of observation.
This observer is someone or something that humanity calls GOD.

I'd like to believe there is some peaceful paradise waiting on the other side but that's really just an excuse I make to try and quell the fear of actually finally ending it all. I don't think there is anything after we die. Absolute nothingness where you cease to exist all at once. It sounds peaceful though whenever I think about it. I really hope it's one or the other. I don't think I could handle an afterlife that includes more suffering or something like reincarnation.

Is there an afterlife and what is it like? More than 25 years of research by Dr. Michael Newton with over 7,000 of his clients answers those questions. "People need to understand that the spiritual realm is their true home that they will return to, not a place that has to be earned...all souls go to one spirit world after death where everyone is treated with patience and love." The free e-book, "Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives" - http://en.booklid.org/book/1383561

There is no spiritual kingdom
there is rather a kingdom of consciousness
and it is among the living people.
The dead are unaware.
God's kingdom is consciousness
everything alive and self-awareness
all living people.

Last week I was under anesthesia because of a surgery and there was simply nothing, it's as though you don't exist. Life after death will be exactly the same i suppose

I had this thought today, what's gonna happen after I CBT. The other side is unknown, but I have a fair idea what I want if afterlife exists, that would be meeting my late grandparents and my last best friend.

I don't believe in heaven or hell but what if But I am afraid I will end on the wrong side. They weren't bad, I am a bad human.

What have been your thoughts?
I struggle with the afterlife as well. And struggle with the loss I my bestfriends and familily members.Im angry and sad at the same time.Sometimes I think suicide is the best route for me.

Based on the ton of NDE accounts I've read, it looks like most people are destined for a heavenly realm after death, and very few wind up in darkness or a fiery pit. There is also a lot of research on reincarnation by Dr. Ian Stevenson that you might want to check out, which is backed up by a good number of NDE accounts.

I have my own answer to eternal nothingness as well. Assuming no afterlife, if the universe continues to expand after a big bang and contract back into a singularity, then eventually, although it may take more than quadrillions of years, the same energy that became matter that became you will become matter and become you again in one of an infinite number of big bangs. In fact, you'll CTB the same way as well, over and over again, but having no memory of the infinite number of past lives you lived. Your consciousness will never end, it will simply change states.

I think when u die, u are going to realize that u are God itself, because u are who "is". There´s only 1 thing that is conscious of himself, thats God, thats u .

Go youtube and type NDE (near death experience), if u want to get first hand information (not human manipulated or invented like Bible, Coran...). when u have seen 50 nde accounts, then u get an idea what an afterlife is like.

For people who thinks there´s nothing after death, did u even realize u are living in a Fantasy world? Just try to define the word "miracle". Well, its something impossible to happend that happends. Is there something more impossible to happend than the whole world to comes to exist? Did u even think about the imposible, uncountable atomical, molecular, and chemical reactions and processes than have to work at a "Divine perfection" in design an execution to keep ur body living for a microsecond? if u think about it, u see that the fantasy is so big, that u don´t even see it. LOL

Further more, any1 can understand that there´s humans and other conscious beings arround, but how the hell u are experiencing ur body and not other body. Why are u conscious of urself? Why are u experiencing this time and not medieval times or any other?

This Quéstions are there, not to be ignored for.

Ill try to put it all together. Imagine God as a consciousness, then he decide to create the world(present past and future, all at once) (Why? I could aso tell my opinion about it), and divide himself in millions of consciousness of all kinds (animals, humans, bugs, aliens...), he is aware of each one of this "little" consciousness, but at same time he must experience the individual and isolated part of this consciousness, well, for me, that is u.
