Discussion Have you ever almost accidentally killed yourself?

I gave myself alcohol poising in highschool at a friends party. I beer bonged an entire bottle of weisers and a 1L of coke. Memory stops the second I closed to value. I woke up on my friends couch, completely covered in black puke. It was like a tarry vile. Left alone to pass out on the couch laying on my back. I have no idea how I didn't choke on my vomit, or just completely shut down because of my b.a.c levels. It's a shame really, almost had the chance to die in my sleep.

Apparently I was so fucked up, they kept me locked on the patio because I couldn't stop breaking things. There was pictures of the party and you can always see my head poking through the window, waiting for smokers to come out I could bug haha

Almost makes me think if I should try it again

I've had 2 near death experiences, but they weren't my fault. Having an experience of almost killing yourself while currently wanting to die is like some sick foreshadowing life throws at us.

I accidently shocked myself as a kid when a plug cover came off. Pretty sure it was still 240v back then, luckily I didn't grip it and just touched It as I was feeling for it around the back of the desk.

My brother retells the image he holds dear of my body being flung across the room. My arm felt wierd for days.

I was hospitalized for alcohol poisoning one time. I also mixed high doses of DXM [Robitussin] with antidepressants which could have given me serotonin syndrome. So yeah I wouldn't say I was close to death but definitely harming myself through drug abuse which could have ended my life potentially.

Yup that's fair, that stuff is dangerous as hell. I never went to the hostipal when I got alcohol poisoning because I assumed I was ok when I woke up alive lol. What do they do, just pump your stomach?

They just gave me IV fluids. My mom took me to the hospital because my friend dropped me off at home and she found me crumpled in the front doorway.

Yes, still using once a week or so. Its one of the reasons I want to die, cant deal with this shit anymore. Cant become sober no matter what. Addiction destroyed me emotionally, dont want to fight it anymore.

Drugs also played a big role in my life falling apart. Cocaine is a pretty expensive habit. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars on blow that was supposed to be for bills.

A bit embarrassing to be honest, but when I was a kid I slipped on a basketball and hit my head on concrete. I was bleeding like there was no tomorrow but nothing else happened.

Da fuck? I would loved to have died back then if I knew this shit would turn out like this.

It wasn't fun but I dealt with it the best I could person that was with me though think it scared her because she hid in bathroom when it kept happening

My old science teacher told us a story from the Darwin awards. Years back a man went to a bridge, injested poison, tied a rope around his neck, set himself on fire, then jumped.

The fire burned through his rope, and he fell into the water, putting the flames out. The water was so cold it caused him to vomit out the poison, and he lived

This was more of a split-second thing and I don't even know if it counts as a near-death experience(I certainly didn't experience any trauma nor was I harmed whatsoever)but there was that time I jumped across the street when a vehicle(forgot what kind)was speeding by and I managed to hop away at the split second just before it hit me.

I should have been way more adrenalized by the event than I actually was,but that was a close call.

My appendicitis is probably much closer to a near-death experience. possibly caused by my gluttonous chowing in a restaurant the night the pain began. one of the most painful events of my life. (the appendicitis,but thankfully not the surgery)

Haha. But seriosuly, choking is scary. I choked on a mozzarella stick that kept the cheese connected between the peice in my stomach and the peice in my hand haha.

Appendicitis is fascinating, have we even discovered it's purpose yet? I know it recycles white blood cells, but that's not really worthy of dedicating an enitre organ to...at least from the knowledge I learnt 10 years ago...

That wasn't much of accident though although in a way it probably was. I just wanted to go away, didn't care too much if that was just for a night or for all eternity.

I was pissed as hell when I realised that I could have died and didn't though. It would have been a peaceful death because I can't remember anything between sitting around and taking a drink and waking up in the hospital.

I know exact how you feel. I was THIS close to dying in my sleep before the majority of my life problems happened.
