As the tittle of the thread suggests, anyone taken these?

I've taken Divalproex Sodium but I don't want the weight gain side effect. It also makes me have a lot of sleep paralysis and lucid dreaming. But I don't typically like the other medications they offer.

I've never taken gabapentin. For people who took it how was it? They are giving it to me for anxiety.

I was also wondering about lamotrigine instead of Divalproex. Anyone taken lamotrigine?

I know everyone's different but feel I would like to hear personal accounts when it comes to these. Would appreciate it. Feel free to write here or message me whatever works.

Check out a site called Erowid. It has accounts of all sorts of drug use. Searchable by various factors. There are many for gabapentin. Haven't checked foe the other meds you mention but there's a good chance they'll be there too.

Gabapentin is an okay anxiolytic and it's good for relaxing for an evening. Not the best recreational drug but you'll definitely notice effects.

Husband took gabapentin. He was on 900-1200 mg per day, and it just made him really sleepy. He was taking it for peripheral neuropathy, which it didn't help … apparently it often doesn't help with that, but doctors have nothing else to try so they throw gaba at it and hope for the best.

I'm currently on gabapentin, have been for almost a decade. It's nuked my memory, but it also kills most of my pain so I'm staying on it.

I was on lamotrigine for several months years ago, but it didn't do anything [also no side effects, at least] so I stopped taking it.

Oh that's interesting did not know about that website thank you.

Oh that's cool you are one of the few people I've heard take it. Didn't even find about it on Erowid. I find it helpful on a low dosage but I'll see what happens.

Was prescribed increasingly high doses of gabapentin (up to the max 3600mg daily) a few years ago for neuropathic pain, it turned me into a zombie and I pretty much slept away several months with no improvement in pain.

Coming off it was awful, full on withdrawals with sweats, shivers, dropping in and out of consciousness, seizures etc; worst experience of my life, much worse than opioid withdrawal. Had I known I would never have taken it to begin with.

Please be careful with this drug - they don't warn you enough about how it can affect you!

It's so true! Can't believe how heartlessly and wrecklessly they prescribe some meds without the slightest hint as to how the treatment will end. This happens with so many meds and treatments. There needs to be more transparency and better communication. They literally just chuck pills at you and tell you not to ask question. Often painting you as a nuisance or hypochondriac if you do. Blind faith is expected. Putting aside the basic human decency aspect of it, much like the governments in many countries they've forgotten who's the public servant and where their income is coming from.

Many meds come with withrawals. Always be careful of that as most can't be effectively taken indefinitely.

Agreed! I stupidly used to just trust the doctors and take whatever they prescribed without question but after that experience I now research every single medication I'm given - facts, reviews, contraindications, side effects and withdrawals… I don't even get a bloody skin cream anymore without googling it first lol

I took Gabapentin as a recreational drug. The first time i took it was about 2000mg with some alcohol and good food. I never did any other drugs in my life so i can't compare it to anything else but what i felt that first time while on Gabapentin was amazing. I felt a bit tipsy, truly happy and loving the entire world. The second time was not as best...maybe cause i did too much alcohol. That's the thing with Gabapentin: you have to find the right dosage, don't drink too much and make sure you take long breaks in between "high times" as the body builds tolerance to it. This is a good recreational drug if you take it maybe 2 times a month.
Would you be kind to tell me what you said to the doctor to determine him/she to prescribe you Gabapentin? I need a good story to convince a dr. to prescribe me some.

I take a small dose of gabapentin at night to help with my restless leg syndrome.

My RLS is exacerbated by the Seroquel I take, so my psych doc prescribed me gabapentin years ago. It works pretty well but not perfectly. I take mine at night so I don't notice the drowsiness.
