It seems like everyday there is another story about someone taking their own life - actors, influencers. Are more people doing it or is it just being reported more?

I feel like there hasn't been more suicides per se, but as suicidal people ourselves, we focus harder on the suicides covered on the news.

It's getting more common. World in a bad spot. Just give us the choice already.

went on twitter once and all I see is people paying respects to profiles of people, underground rappers, teens who just killed themselves

I think that media goes in a cycle of show and hide with suicide, maybe related with the current political posture about suicide coverage and of course some calculation about how much it sells in that moment. In my country now we are in hide, people just die in their room phase.

James Ransone had such sad eyes in his later years. It breaks my heart when I see him. You could see plain as day that he was suffering greatly. When depression gets very bad, it cannot be hidden.

It makes sense to me that the rate of ctb would rise and fall- to some degree- according to various large-scale stressors, especially when financial hardship is a factor for many. Ofc most famous people might have less financial stress than the average person, so idk. Just speculating.

The situation with the survivor of the shooting is so unbelievably upsetting, especially because you just know he probably struggled for years with PTSD and never truly was able to find peace with what he had been through, and this lead to him developing schizophrenia too.

The article says he underwent a lot of treatment and hospitalisation, but in the end as soon as the order barring him from having firearms expired, he did it. The treatment for these complex conditions is so incredibly lackluster, and you only truly realize it if you have been through the system yourself and cried for help over and over again, only to realize the only thing they'll offer you is discussing traumatic memories ad nauseum until you either become desensitized or crack further.

It's just heartbreaking and awful what he went through in the first place, only to have to endure nearly a decade of further mental pain too. It's so unfair.

And imagine if you could buy N legally, suicide rates would be 100 times higher (at least...)
