I've been involved with MH services, Ambulance, police and crisis teams multiple times. Not all positive although they are normally quite friendly and understanding, but they normally end up sectioning myself and I end up being assessed. It's not all good and they can't do very much other than give crisis line numbers or make referrals in severe cases.

i've had tons of wellness checks sent to my house. the police would just say that someone is " concerned about my well being " and they were sent
to come check on me, but you can literally lie to their face and say you're fine and they won't do anything. then another time, i actually
attempted suicide and the cops showed up to my house first and i was alone and they busted my door down and escorted me to the hospital. so
yeah screw the police.

My neighbors called the police on me one time, because I had a "melt down" and was smashing stuff in my house and threw some stuff out in the yard.I let the cop into my house and I had two firearms sitting out in plain sight. He handcuffed me and asked me "was I planning to harm myself or others?" I said "yes and yes".He then took my guns and put them in the trunk of his car(never saw them again). And taken to the station booked, then taken to the hospital and held on a 5150 for 3 days. When they assessed me after 3 days, I told them that I didn't mean what I said,I was only drunk and very stressed out. They let me go and told me not to drink anymore.Another time a female family member kept trying to get me to "open up and talk" about what I was feeling. When I did,she got off the phone and called the police. They came to my house to have a chat, told me where to get help, and left me alone.Cops were cool and patient both times..I have no complaints.

I think nurses and doctors are generally nice certainly in the uk as they know your not enjoying life, the police also.certainly in my experience. I think believe it or not they dont like cry for help type people as they feel they are being used for tbe wrong reasons. I knew someone who had attempted cry for help type suicides on a dozen occasions and the sympathy can wear off. Thats why i like this website as its informative yet supportive of choice and could prevent cry for help folks (who are also suffering) from ending up in hospital, and help people whose minds are made up to have a relatively peaceful dignified exit. 20 years ago when i took 70 paracetamol and thought id drift into a peaceful sleep, how wrong. But now the info is available and thats a good thing x
Thanks

Yes, I had, but not with police, but with emergency.
Everything started from major side effects of Aripiprazole: it was an uncontrollable akathisia and dystonia.
It felt like I am on fire and this will last forever.
First I was in emergency department, was waiting around 7 hours to be told that I will have to visit my psychiatrist in a few days.
In some time, I came to emergency d-t again and was discharged because I was told that only psychiatrist will help me and they are not allowed to give unprescribed drugs.
In a few hours I came again and after hours of waiting (it was the third day of the horror which I was experiencing) they finally realized what is wrong with me and gave me procyclidine. It helped me almost instantly. But only after I was heavily worn out.
It took three days to get a pill which I needed.
Thank you, emergency department, never again!

During one of the darkest times of my life, I had these two "friends" who drove to my house, called, telling me they were outside and to come out and get in the car. I trusted them. Unfortunately they drove me an ER where I was first handled by a few police officers. I resisted and was thrown on the ground. One officer found it necessary to put a thumb in my mouth. Completely degrading experience. Of course, being in the US, I was later billed a few thousand dollars for this "ER visit" but I wrote to their billing and human resource departments telling them to essentially fuck off. No way I was paying for that "treatment".

Hospital never sent me another bill, and I haven't spoken to or seen those "friends" since 2015.

Curiosity. Why do you ask Why do you ask?

It's kind of weird cause you don't even describe a similar experience you might have gone through, or explain why youre looking for this info. It feels like voyeurism, IMO.

I have had a few experiences with police showing up to take me to the hospital. The experiences were either neutral or positive. On some occasions the cops were far nicer than the Drs and nurses at the hospital.

https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/baker-acted-long-rant.23723/

The above post is my account of being Baker Acted, or forcibly placed in the hospital against my will, when I wasn't even suicidal.
I had gone to the doctor to get my thyroid checked because I had a low thyroid count and I was feeling tired. It's very long, but If you skip down you can see where I start the story of how I was Baker Acted and how a nurse falsely accused me of being suicidal and falsely told the police that my husband was abusing me (He was not) with no proof at all in either case.

Then there was another instance, which I've re-counted on some thread or other on this forum, when I was 14 and had taken an overdose of pills. I lived in a small town about 45 or so minutes away from the nearest hospital that had a psych ward, so I got to spend all that time in an ambulance with a paramedic preaching to me about how she didn't understand why a 14-year-old would attempt suicide because I couldn't possibly have any "real problems" because of my age. This woman knew nothing about my life and yet she presumed to tell me that because I was only 14, I couldn't have any good reason to try to end my life.

This is why I have a very low opinion of the medical profession these days, those two instances and many, many others—both within the psychiatric community and just the regular medical community at large. Medical care of all kinds in the United States is a big joke!

Excellent job and courage for standing up to the hospital and their bullshit treatment. I would have done the same too, and also since I currently have no income and also few if any assets, they can't get shit from me. In fact, I think I may even CTB if I were in such a situation just out of spite and for the fact that I will not support a society or system that sanctions involuntary hospitalization.

What i love is that the poster still had the fight and grit inside to tell them to fuck off instead of laying down. Just because someone is readybto ctb doesnt mean they have to give up their principles and sense ofvrightbor wrong.

How do you learn about situations if you don't ask about them? We don't need reasons as to why we want to know thing's. Some people research, others are more blunt and will just ask
There could be many reasons why this person has asked, it doesn't automatically mean its a negative, I mean it could be but what right have we to judge?

I have personally been dealt with by police and MHS, as well as the NHS, the police have always been the kinder more caring people in every situation. the rest can screw off!

Was on the phone once to Lifeline when I was in a slump and just failed a suicide attempt. Whilst on the phone they called the cops and I was taken to hospital for assessment....

a few months prior to that I was taken twice by police for mental health assessment for trying to import N after customs seized both shipments..

I went to beachy head and was reported missing by a family member, after a while I called to say I was on my way home, was detained by police at a train station and taken to a hospital. I was kind of dissociating at the time, they were alright, but I was angry that the police were called, I was sectioned for 2 weeks as a result.

I had an encounter. One day I had called my insurance company asking about what my coverage was and then I made a comment out of frustration that must have made her think I was going to hurt myself. We agreed I would take an Uber to a behavioral health center but then I got distracted by a phone call from a friend and I ignored her attempts to call me and follow up. I headed home instead and shortly after I got home I heard a loud knock at my door. A police officer. He sounded like a newbie who was getting Hugh off of this "rescue". He was extremely rude and treated me like a criminal. He said the insurance lady had called him. I explained the mix up and he left.

a few days after that my brother called the cops as I was threatening the same thing I said to the insurance company. The same cop showed up at my door and was even meaner. Then he lied to me and told me to come with him to talk to someone. Then when we got to his car HE HANDCUFFED ME. Like a bloody criminal. I had to ask him if I had committed a crime by being depressed.

I was then held at that crisis center for 24 hours.

My encounter was 100% negative. The cop was on an unexplainable power trip.

The OP responded that he (?) was curious.

Then turned the question around on me, why did I ask why he asked?

This is a common tactic of manipulation.

@Backwood_tilt made a sharp observation. The same one that led me to ask, Why?

I checked OP's post history. Others can too.

I'm all about making space for others, but the purpose of this thread seems to be predatory. I choose to honor my gut and self-protect. Others can engage with OP as they choose.

its not a tactic of manipulation its a question of curiosity when you become extremely defensive without explainng why. I don't need to have had a shared experience to ask a question like this, if you don't feel comfortable sharing, don't post. But not everyone is as sensitive as you

Last January I was going to jump off a cliff near where my parents live. I drove there, it was a coastal area. The police came on lights and sirens, literally thought to myself, fuck lol. Was expecting to get sectioned etc but they were so kind and understanding with me, they were so patient as well. They ended up taking me home, one of them drove my car and I went with the other officers. Said they were going to make a safeguarding referral, which they did. Overall a good experience.

The officers who took me to the hospital when I was sectioned were very nice. They seemed a bit surprised when they saw me - I guess I didn't look like someone about to end a life. I was required to be transported in the "wagon" but they were very nice about helping me climb in and out.

I have had lots of experiences with the police and other emergency services. I would go out for walks down a river path at night just to clear my head as I found it peaceful and they always seemed to show up no matter where I was. There are lots of spies everywhere.. now I'm pretty much housebound so they can't watch me now :)

I was sectioned, then the pigs tapped my phone and the staff and pigs tried to kill me. Then the pigs chased me into specsavers and tried to kill me. They follow me around town and monitor me wherever they go. These cunts destroyed my life!

I think the Dr's and nurses in the UK are EVIL and demonic! Child molesters and criminals who goad and laugh at you. Sociopaths who play with peoples lives and hide behind their badges and uniforms. Don't be so deluded! If the pigs, nurses, Dr's ect were any good or had a fraction of humanity in them, this website wouldn't exist and we all wouldn't be trying to help and support each other through lack of TLC of the people who are PAID to give a damn
