Method Hangman's table?

Hey everyone,

I was hoping somebody could help me, I was googling about suicide by hanging yesterday and came across this table that was apparently used by hangmen back in the day to ensure convicts had a less painful death.

If I were to figure out my weight and hang myself from the correct height would it make it more likely that I would break my neck on the way down and not suffocate to death or is this table inaccurate?

The table is accurate but remember stepping off a chair is not the same as dropping through a trap door. Also hangmen would boil the rope and then stretch it using sand bags of the same weight as the condemned. The bags hung from the rope over night to take all elasticity out of the rope to ensure the neck would break. While some countries used the traditional hangman's knot, the British devised a type of running loop using a thimble in the noose with the running end fed through that thimble. It was far more efficient then the hangman's noose.

Thanks for that info. Any advice for breaking your neck doing full suspension?

There is no need to break your neck. If you do full suspension with no drop you will pass out within 5 to 15 seconds and it does not hurt very much. On the other hand a broken neck guarantees not instant unconsciousness but maybe pain and the collapse of your gallows.
When the long drop was invented the people probably did not know, that a hanged person who convulsed is unconscious.
