I had a failed attempt last year where I partially hung myself using belt cushioned with a T shirt. I tried to position it so the shirt would pressure the carotid arteries while leaving me free to breathe. It was surprisingly comfortable and yet I've never been able to replicate it in follow up times I've tried.

The successful time I passed out within seconds without realizing it and only woke up later after vessels burst in my face and eyes so I was almost gone. I'm trying a full suspension method to prevent me from waking up this time but survival instinct kicks in so fast without that comfort.

Anyone have a comfortable hanging method you've tried?

Update:

1) A mix of ligature strangulation and hanging seems to be the way to go. The instructions here are great for Ligature Strangulation. And I described my last (almost successful) partial hanging attempt here.

2) For comfort and effectiveness with the strangulation part, I find 2 folded socks pressed against the carotid arteries and wrapped with a shoelace for ligature strangulation is the way to do.

3) For comfort with the hanging part, wear a hoodie with the belt on the outside and a shirt around the inside of the belt as a way to brace against the neck.

My start-to-finish plan going forward is here:

The bathroom at my work has a drop T bar ceiling and an access panel. I got two 4ft rebar rods from Home Depot and placed them in the ceiling across the top of the access panel. I held myself up on it pull-up style to make sure it can support my weight and it can. I have a belt with 2 grommets that I looped in on itself to form the noose and then looped over the rebar and used a total of 4 zipties through 2 sets of grommets so the belt is secured to the rebar. It all seems to be able to hold my full weight.

When the time is right, I'm going to wrap a shirt loosely around the inner part of the belt noose where my neck will go for comfort. I'm going to put on a hoodie and put my head through the noose. The noose is suspended so my feet would be 12" off the ground so I'm going to be standing on a low stool. Then I'm going to use the shoelace and socks method to ligature strangulate myself very fast. This should start the passing out process and override survival instincts. Between the weight of ligature strangulation and partial hanging, that should be enough to not wake up this time so it can finish itself off.

I am making arrangements to leave my partner some financial security, gonna have signage to prevent anyone seeing my body unprepared, and make sure to do it when there's no risk of being discovered. All the items needed are already sitting in the space above the T-bar access panel so as soon as the final arrangements go through either this week or next I should be completely ready.

I think I'll want to get creative with comfortably hanging full suspension. It seems very difficult to hang by the neck with full weight. I weigh about 180 at 6ft tall so I wish I could stand on a deflating mattress or something to lower myself more gently. Will have to think on this some more but I also don't want it stopping me from succeeding here. Ultimately I can push through 5 seconds of SI if I can pass out in time regardless.

I just don't want to accidentally wake up again

May I ask which type of knot you used for the noose?

It's not so much a knot as just putting a belt around my neck exactly like you would having a belt around your pants

This is my setup (if the photo loads). Belt held on rebar in ceiling. Shirt folded to provide padding plus soft sweater or hoodie to cushion the back of my neckk from the belt)

Edit: the image doesn't appear for me. I'm trying to make it a lower res image to see if that works better

The picture works just fine for me. It is very informative, thank you.

Do you think it'll hold in place correctly? That's what I'm mostly scared of with hanging (failed in the past for that reason)...

The ceiling can be crawled around in so it should hold my weight

The belt is tied around rebar which is definitely going to hold.

The zip ties can hold at least 300lbs and I only weight 160-170 so that should be fine

The belt has held my full weight before.

I think the only challenge left to solve is this setup is full hanging and not partial which is a little more tricky to overcome survival instinct with. Ideally I can figure out a good way to go from partial > pass out > full hang. But maybe it's just a kick the chair moment and just tough it out. In my experience I'd lose consciousness in just a few seconds so I think it's possible to sit with

It's funny my pics don't appear for me. My setup is complete. It's comfortable and when I test it I can tell I'll be gone in moments without even realizing it. I have been making final arrangements which honestly is kind of a stall for time trap

Where did you put the rope at your neck to don't touch breathing while you do it with confort and lose of conscious ? I am a little bit lost in all the informations for this point.

Have the blood vessels in your eyes and face recovered after PSH? How long does it take to fully recover?
