The unconscious body thrashes about and can cause noise, right? Would it be unwise to try to hang myself in my dorm (with people in adjacent rooms)?

I've been considering this recently as well. I suppose it comes down to the particulars of your situation.

For myself, I live in small apartment, I don't know or interact with my neighbours so I have some confidence they wouldn't interfere due to a few minutes of noise they hear. I'm also planning to do this in the middle of the night to minimize any variables.

I guess what would matter most is how easily sound transfers through your walls and how quickly someone could gain access to your room if they perceive an "emergency". I do have a lingering fear that the one time my neighbours would deign to interact with me would be to "rescue" me just in time for me to be rendered a vegetable. That would be just my luck, but probably unlikely. A dorm might be riskier but it's hard to say.

Maybe a little music wouldn't come badly, anyway, if you don't want to be heard and then saved, it's maybe because you know they'll be worried.
