Anyone else having their hair fall out? The hair on my head and body is falling out. Feel like its either due to stress or I read that antidepressants can do it. I take 20 mg of celexa per day.

Yeah, never knew antidepressants could do it though. Always attributed it to stress.

Yeah bro, that's why I refuse to take meds.

I just looked up all the side effects of Celexa but didn't find anything about hairloss.

Hairloss can be caused by a number of things including hormonal changes, anemia, hypothyroidism, and stress.

Drs ignore downplay all the bad side effects of meds. Ie withdraw effects of antidepressants don't exist. We know depression hasn't never been proved to be caused by low stertoion but let's tell everyone that anyways. It's just like how cigs used to be told are good for you or how many dr believed opioids were not addictive.

It's basically we don't understand how the brain works. Let's pretend we understand how the brain works. Massive brain damage to solve depression? Awesome. Increased suicidal thoughts? Oh well. Most school shooters were on antidepressants? So what it had nothing to do with the antidepressants after all we pay more in lobbying than even defense contracts now. Drug companies spend the most on lobbying out of evrey group.

Fallen out four times in my life. My hair has never been healthier than it is right now. I was very sick (tumours) two times and the other two times were caused by antidepressants according to my doctor.

I'm very sorry you're going through this. It can be so hard to find answers too.

Celexa has been reported to cause hair loss before. It's not always listed as a side effect, although it is for the generic, and the research isn't extensive. The problem is that you take it for something that can also cause hair loss :( So it can be hard to tell without going off it.

Please speak with your doctor before discontinuing if possible because abrupt discontinuation can lead to severe withdrawal syndromes. See if anything else you use could cause hair loss and if you know the timing of your hair loss you can cross reference it with events in your life and meds.

I used to have random 50 cent piece size circles of hair just fall out. Always due to stress.

This has probably been the most stressful year of my life, yet none fell out (at least not yet). I don't know if it really helped or not, but I used Pantene shampoo. Always figured these beautiful women were on there bragging about their healthy hair. Maybe I need to keep mine healthy, and since everybody's gone to hell anyway why not go on and be a nancy boy just this once?

It's worked out well so far. This is some fine hair. Too bad it's on top of such a fucked up head.

There is someone on here who may have recently ctb due to medicine-related hair loss. It made all her hair fall out and left her scalp burnt.

For a time I was losing too much hair in the shower and something that stopped this was nascent iodine. I would think that it stems from chemicals in food, some medications, certain illnesses, or even fluoride in the water that might be throwing off your hormones. The only thing that might be natural is men losing their hair prematurely because of genetics.

Psych meds effect hair skin and nails for a lot of people. Wellbutrin caused some hair loss for me but seemed to grow back after I stopped taking it. A friend of mine takes lithium for bipolar which caused her to go gray in a matter of months also changed the growth & hardness of nails significantly.

I think everyone should try to avoid medications from doctors these days as much as humanly possible. There might be some stuff u cannot avoid, but antidepressants and phsyc meds are avoidable. It's a way to keep people dependent and numbed out to be able to tolerate the enslavement to bad jobs, and increasing poverty because we are taxed to death and life has become much more precarious. If u can get off these meds u should try. Everything most of us are told about mental illness is a lie. Most people are not mentally ill but maybe struggle more because they haven't learned to overcome things we are afraid of or cause us anxiety. Women do tend to be more anxious than men naturally because we are more afraid of an insecure lifestyle as opposed to men for example.

I've been on Celexa for 3 years and still have a full head of hair. I goof off on SS a lot though, maybe that helps my stress level.

I don't necessarily agree with the whole avoid SSRIs etc at all costs. I think it's worth giving meds a shot before you make any major decisions regarding ctb. In some cases they do help, but that's contingent on finding a medication (and dosage) that really works for you as an individual.

I'm thinking go off of them because if you're already pretty poor and the economy collapses you may have more difficulties accessing these meds. Having to go off these meds cold turkey might be very scary and debilitating. That's why I think it's a good idea, not because they don't help necessarily.

If hair loss is due to anti-depressants and other meds, then you should consult the doctor to prescribe something that reduces the hair loss. Discontinuation of anti-deoressants leads to problems associated with medicine withdrawal

I've had a ton of hair loss lately, and I wasn't on any anti-depressants when it started. For me, it has to be either stress or my eating disorder. Meds may or may not work for you, but one thing to keep in mind is that they work differently for everyone.

Mine is so grey I decided to quit coloring it, not sure which is worse. Leaving it natural or fighting to keep up with the new growth constantly. I shaved head and started to grow the grey out, it's aging as fuck but it's easier than fighting it. Maybe it won't be so bad once I have more length I'm hoping.
