Was flown to the Midwest for a job interview. Should have been relatively easy IF I arrived at the interview on time, however this was not the case! The flight they booked me on was over-booked and delayed, plus coupled with weather at my destination? My comfortable 90 minute arrival window before my interview start ended up being 10 minutes with a 15 minute van drive to the conference hotel. Needless to say I arrived about 25 minutes into the group interview. I tried to remain cool and calm and tried to blow it off. They knew that the flight was delayed, but it all just messed with my head too much. I became overwhelmed and performed poorly. They called me toward the end and basically escorted me off telling me that I should hear back within a week to 10 days. This was a lie as some people were offered jobs on the spot. In any case, this was my last chance to getting out of my deadend, nothing, low-paying job from hell. This was all I needed to support my reasons in CTB. I am just waiting on the SN to arrive. I tried to explain to a friend how this was a sign, but she was just sees it was just a unfortunate "setback" that maybe wasn't supposed to happen. So I just outright told her I saw it clearly as a sign telling me to CTB. I'm tired of life having to show me signs of disappointments of things that "weren't supposed to happen." That is why CTB for me will happen! Anyway, thank you for reading my story.

So if it had been a successful interview, what would that have been a sign of?

Not sure it would have been a successful interview even if the flight had been late. Bad luck has been in my back pocket throughout the past year, now into this one. But in this case, I can't imagine the hypothetical when the factual exists. :meh:
You can have more job interviews

This was my third company/interview. I got turned down by two companies in the same industry too. This last one was the closest I came to being hired.

I totally get you though, sometimes it feels like the universe is hinting for you to shit or get off the pot.

I will say though, objectively, that deciding something like this over the outcome of a job interview might be a bit rash.

I wish it was just the job that was going wrong in my life. Everything is going wrong. The job issue is the thing I just happen to be fixated on right now. The job is just a check mark on the list of rottenness in my life.

I mean, I agree and the last thing we want to do is encourage someone or say something that might result in suicide; so please, OP, don't misunderstand me: it's always a very individual decision and we don't know you! thus we err on the side of caution.

But to get back to your point; I think when some little thing pushes one to thoughts of suicide like that, there's a huge amount of suffering that has already accumulated beneath the surface; those small occurrences that seem to push one over the edge might just be the last nail in the coffin so to speak. What I'm trying to get at is that, calling these seemingly petty reasons someone cites as evidence for the inevitability of their suicide insufficient or irrational might feel invalidating to them, or worse, they could feel even more incompetent or shameful about their life.

OP, I'm sorry you had to go through that. I see a lot of our suffering as internalized pressure of an inhumane system, i.e. neoliberalism, the modern economy, radical individualism, etc ... Maybe you can find some consolation in critical thinkers; shifting the blame where it belongs would help us all, I think. If we could just decide not to blame ourselves for the bizarre conditions we're made to live in nowadays anymore; just think about how absurd to previous generations your situation must have seemed: flying across the country just to apply for a fucking job where you're probably underpaid anyway and then missing the appointment by ten minutes. The lack of alternatives or good opportunities isn't our fault!

I wish you good luck, whatever you may decide.

And you know what: why don't they schedule your fucking flight a day earlier? Because then they would have to pay for a hotel for o n e f u c k i n g n i g h t; and they are cheap. So they outsource the cost to you, in the form of stress, because you then have to worry days ahead whether or not the plane will arrive on time, you have to rush from the airport to the bus stop and from the bus stop to the company, etc, etc... they probably even scheduled your flight back on the same day, am I right?

Fuck that

I'll just respond to the question posed in the thread title:

Had Horrible Job Interview, Sign to CTB?

Nope. Only a sign that you likely didn't get the job.

yeah and also: you were flown in by a company for a fucking job-interview; that means you were actually a worthwhile contender for it, for they wouldn't have spent such a large amount of money if they hadn't seriously considered hiring you. No one flies me in to interview as a taxi driver lol

It took me 10 in person interviews to get my first job out of college, it's tough to get a job these days.

It could be a 'sign' but I don't want to necessarily reduce to just one reason, or factor. There are likely other factors and other causes too. As far as a job interview, from what I read, it means that you did not get the offer and the company probably didn't really want you or wanted to cut costs of the hiring process so they went as cheaply as they could (which isn't always in the best interest of the candidate).

Others have made some good and thorough responses here as well.

@Zoltiel Yes, agreed and I never really worked until just beginning of last year, in 2019. Currently unemployed though and just a 'NEET' (Not in Education Employment or Training).
