  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

The only reason I feel so desperate to take SN as soon as possible is that I get the feeling that it's about to become harder and harder to access and even illegal in the near future.

In the UK, people have received countless visits for police officers and had their SN confiscated.

Do you think the same will happen in Canada, or the US?

No.

SN probably will never expire. Just don't open it.

The current situation is that SN is legal in both US and Canada. In the States, I think they would ban firearms before banning SN. Canada usually follows in step with US regulations. As far as I am aware, there are no discussions about banning SN in either country.

I'm sorry, I could have. But I was trying to answer without a lengthy reply because this has been brought up in the past.

My point though was I don't believe cops will be knocking on your door like UK.
UK is a weird gov't and does things like this whereas canada and US do not unless you order an already illegal substance.

If the US or canadian gov't made SN illegal, they are not going to retroactively visit people who have ordered SN in the past.

The UK again is a weird gov't. I do not see canada or US doing that. Maybe N a small possibility but SN no.

My point was if you're not an impulsive person, just buy SN and store it. It will store forever. You won't have anybody knock on your door. If you're an impulsive person than not a good idea to have in your home because you could make a rash decision.

Hope that answers your question

My two cents (worth only one cent, since the dollar is always down)…I've personally noted that access to SN on that website has decreased significantly in the past month. Just get it now and put it away. Got peace of mind.

I'm in the UK also had multiple orders of SN delivered. No police - no welfare checks. I even got picked up by police mid attempt a few months ago. I had 25g SN in my pocket which I handed over to avoid getting sectioned again. No question of where the rest was - police broke into my house that night - no searches and no repeat visits since.

All I'm saying is - be calm, be rational don't do anything hasty and be sure it's absolutely the right decision for you cos there isn't any going back. Don't be pressured by outside influences, you don't know what their motives are. Occasionally there can be panic/heightened emotions/prolife and pro death influences here. Just do you.

SN is used in food extensively, there's no way to ban it or control it anywhere in the world.

It happens. They keep a close eye on all kinds of purchases online, every country with the means to do so would be crazy not to do it.

Nope. I dont believe it. Not even a little. Police departments have waaaay better and waaay more things to do than worry if someone gets a little salt mailed to them.

It isn't that they are monitoring mail because of SN. They are monitoring it because of illegal drugs, weapons etc. I'm not saying it isn't possible to get around it but that a lot of sites will monitor what you buy too. it really depends on what country you live in if they will actually care enough to do anything or if they pay enough attention to even notice what is going on. Some countries will only be paying attention to purchases of weapons or drugs etc while other countries will be more snoopy.

That being said, things slip through all the time. A lot of it's dependent on reputation too. Of the site, the buyer and the seller. If either of those have a low reputation the risk of being monitored goes up.

They don't check national purchases, online or otherwise.
Those visits only happened after a SN suicide in the UK. The UK company that sold the SN was identified by the coroner during the inquest. As required the coroner made recommendations and gave a copy of the report to the police and the company in question. When asked the seller communicated the names and addresses of all the individuals who purchased SN from them. The Police was then required to do welfare checks.
The police may have asked people to surrender their SN, but have power to compel people to surrender property that is legal to possess

In the USA, SN is classified a 100% legal meat preservation product. Nobody will arrest you for buying it. Maybe you like to buy meat in bulk form Costco and preserve it. Maybe you hunt wild animals for food, and need a reliable way to keep meat fresh. Maybe you're Mormon, whose religion dictates stockpiling food for crisis times. Whatever your pretext is for buying it, the police will not pursue you for it. You like preserving meat; that's your story, and that's the end of it. That's why I love America: it still has some semblance of freedom, despite the Democrats' actions lately.

If you really think about it, almost anything can be used as a suicide tool. A knife. A mixture of Windex and bleach. A handgun (in states where they're easy to buy; mine isn't such). An stove/oven. An electric outlet (easier in countries using 220 V than those using 110 V). If the police decided to stop each and every suicide method, all Americans would be living in padded cells with a hole in the floor functioning as a toilet.

They may not ban it but it sounds like most companies only sell to businesses now. Someone posted DD wont sell anymore

They do in the UK.
But only a brief visit and few questions. If answered right, no problems

Like other comments I don't think the police will visit the houses of people who bought SN (at least not in Canada). However, I can see it becoming very difficult to obtain in the future. With the current climate around suicide awareness and prevention, it's only a matter of time before SN and other methods hit mainstream. All it would take is a teen suicide using SN or a popular hit piece in the papers to get politicians involved. Then from there, expect restrictions. Especially since no company wants their products associated with suicide. If you plan on taking SN in the future, it's a good idea yo buy now. HOWEVER, there isn't really a need to rush to take it, as police probably aren't going to come to your house in the future to confiscate it if you bought it now.
