If it makes you feel better I got caught 2 times and yesterday I was 20 minutes away from the goal.

No it won't be painful.

I don't think anyone can guarantee that any type of hanging will be painless. I'm sure the presumption here is that it might not be so painful, but I feel extremely sure it will not feel pleasant at all.

Yes I have I have also picked myself up by the neck with a rope, using a pulley,with a release exit. It's actually quite painfull.
The last time I thought of killing myself was exactly the way you are mentioning it, with the toes touching the floor. After 3 hours of thinking about it I decided I would do it after tying some lose ends.
That was about 1.5 months ago.

I used a towel to hang myself, maybe that's why I didn't feel any pain to the neck
